Description

You've inherited your grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won't be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The community center, once the town's most vibrant hub of activity, now lies in shambles. But the valley seems full of opportunity. With a little dedication, you might just be the one to restore Stardew Valley to greatness!

Features
  • Turn your overgrown field into a lively farm! Raise animals, grow crops, start an orchard, craft useful machines, and more! You'll have plenty of space to create the farm of your dreams.

  • 4 Player Farming! Invite 1-3 players to join you in the valley online! Players can work together to build a thriving farm, share resources, and improve the local community. As more hands are better than one, players have the option to scale profit margin on produce sold for a more challenging experience.

  • Improve your skills over time. As you make your way from a struggling greenhorn to a master farmer, you'll level up in 5 different areas: farming, mining, combat, fishing, and foraging. As you progress, you'll learn new cooking and crafting recipes, unlock new areas to explore, and customize your skills by choosing from a variety of professions.

  • Become part of the local community. With over 30 unique characters living in Stardew Valley, you won't have a problem finding new friends! Each person has their own daily schedule, birthday, unique mini-cutscenes, and new things to say throughout the week and year. As you make friends with them, they will open up to you, ask you for help with their personal troubles, or tell you their secrets! Take part in seasonal festivals such as the luau, haunted maze, and feast of the winter star.

  • Explore a vast, mysterious cave. As you travel deeper underground, you'll encounter new and dangerous monsters, powerful weapons, new environments, valuable gemstones, raw materials for crafting and upgrading tools, and mysteries to be uncovered.

  • Breathe new life into the valley. Since JojaMart opened, the old way of life in Stardew Valley has changed. Much of the town's infrastructure has fallen into disrepair. Help restore Stardew Valley to it's former glory by repairing the old community center, or take the alternate route and join forces with Joja Corporation.

  • Court and marry a partner to share your life on the farm with. There are 12 available bachelors and bachelorettes to woo, each with unique character progression cutscenes. Once married, your partner will live on the farm with you. Who knows, maybe you'll have kids and start a family?

  • Spend a relaxing afternoon at one of the local fishing spots. The waters are teeming with seasonal varieties of delicious fish. Craft bait, bobbers, and crab pots to help you in your journey toward catching every fish and becoming a local legend!

  • Donate artifacts and minerals to the local museum.

  • Cook delicious meals and craft useful items to help you out. With over 100 cooking and crafting recipes, you'll have a wide variety of items to create. Some dishes you cook will even give you temporary boosts to skills, running speed, or combat prowess. Craft useful objects like scarecrows, oil makers, furnaces, or even the rare and expensive crystalarium.

  • Customize the appearance of your character and house. With hundreds of decorative items to choose from, you'll have no trouble creating the home of your dreams!

  • Xbox controller support (with rumble)! (Keyboard still required for text input)

  • Over two hours of original music.

Excellent fun for all ages

Inheriting an old farm has never been so much fun. In an age where people feel the need to gun down everything or spend hours online this is a nice and simple game that proves to be fun for all ages. You start with a small bundle of seeds, an overgrown farm, no money and some simple tools. Making money in the early game requires a bit of discipline: some things are worth keeping whilst others can be sold to make some quick money. I love the fact that the player can choose to ignore the farm completely and choose to make money via foraging, fishing or mining. You can choose to become a social butterfly in the community, form your on clique or ignore everyone. Making friends will change how people interact with you. The community centre challenges the player to donate items, but each bundle will provide rewards, usually seeds or a tool for the farm. But completing every bundle in a set unlocks a piece of the map that was previously unattainable. The mining produces plenty of resources and quick money early on but also provides combat. Nothing too severe, just the player battling a variety of monsters with a sword, which is upgraded every ten levels, or you can buy one at the Adventurers Guild. The more that you do an activity, the more experience you will gain and as you level up more options open up to the player. The graphics are cute and friendly, certainly nothing that will push your graphics card, but they fit the game perfectly. The sounds are nice and the controls are very straight forward, using mainly WASD and the mouse, although I have heard that it works fine with a gamepad. For some family time then anyone with a computer can join in for a hosted game. This is great for developing the farm in the early game as this can prove quite challenging on your own. There are many hours to pass in this modern classic. Not one for those who want a frantic action game, but well worth a place in anyone's library.

Sucks you in

I bought Stardew Valley, at least at first, for my son to play. We got through the first stages of setting up a farm (leave it to him to pick the one with monsters), started farming for a few in-game days, then he... asked to play a racing game. A few weeks passed, and my wife and I were out of town and I wanted to play something relaxing. Before I knew it, I'd spent twenty hours on Stardew Valley, and grown from a tiny operation to a serious farm pulling in 10,000 g a day. Now, forty hours in, I'm nowhere near done building my farm or expanding my business, let alone exploring the various relationship possibilities available, delving into the caves, or unlocking the end-game content. The game just sucks you in, and more often than not you'll forget the time while constantly trying to go "one more day". Yes, the fishing mechanic can be tricky, and yes, the harder monsters late in the game can result in frustrating cases where you lose important equipment, but overall the game is a great way to relax. Easy five stars; I'd give it six out of five if it had achievement support here on GOG.

relax, and injoy

this game was stressful for me in the beginning. the day and night time was a huge irritation for me, espesial when you just wanted to relax. well, the love for the game came later after a few hours og gaming. and opening up the game. and got married, got a few kids, and ended up havning everything. xD luckily for me they have added a bunch of new stuff, so I can begin all over again. yay! just annoying that I lost my old saves. ;/ never mind, I still got no life, so that will be fixed in no time ;)
