Description

You've inherited your grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won't be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The community center, once the town's most vibrant hub of activity, now lies in shambles. But the valley seems full of opportunity. With a little dedication, you might just be the one to restore Stardew Valley to greatness!

Features
  • Turn your overgrown field into a lively farm! Raise animals, grow crops, start an orchard, craft useful machines, and more! You'll have plenty of space to create the farm of your dreams.

  • 4 Player Farming! Invite 1-3 players to join you in the valley online! Players can work together to build a thriving farm, share resources, and improve the local community. As more hands are better than one, players have the option to scale profit margin on produce sold for a more challenging experience.

  • Improve your skills over time. As you make your way from a struggling greenhorn to a master farmer, you'll level up in 5 different areas: farming, mining, combat, fishing, and foraging. As you progress, you'll learn new cooking and crafting recipes, unlock new areas to explore, and customize your skills by choosing from a variety of professions.

  • Become part of the local community. With over 30 unique characters living in Stardew Valley, you won't have a problem finding new friends! Each person has their own daily schedule, birthday, unique mini-cutscenes, and new things to say throughout the week and year. As you make friends with them, they will open up to you, ask you for help with their personal troubles, or tell you their secrets! Take part in seasonal festivals such as the luau, haunted maze, and feast of the winter star.

  • Explore a vast, mysterious cave. As you travel deeper underground, you'll encounter new and dangerous monsters, powerful weapons, new environments, valuable gemstones, raw materials for crafting and upgrading tools, and mysteries to be uncovered.

  • Breathe new life into the valley. Since JojaMart opened, the old way of life in Stardew Valley has changed. Much of the town's infrastructure has fallen into disrepair. Help restore Stardew Valley to it's former glory by repairing the old community center, or take the alternate route and join forces with Joja Corporation.

  • Court and marry a partner to share your life on the farm with. There are 12 available bachelors and bachelorettes to woo, each with unique character progression cutscenes. Once married, your partner will live on the farm with you. Who knows, maybe you'll have kids and start a family?

  • Spend a relaxing afternoon at one of the local fishing spots. The waters are teeming with seasonal varieties of delicious fish. Craft bait, bobbers, and crab pots to help you in your journey toward catching every fish and becoming a local legend!

  • Donate artifacts and minerals to the local museum.

  • Cook delicious meals and craft useful items to help you out. With over 100 cooking and crafting recipes, you'll have a wide variety of items to create. Some dishes you cook will even give you temporary boosts to skills, running speed, or combat prowess. Craft useful objects like scarecrows, oil makers, furnaces, or even the rare and expensive crystalarium.

  • Customize the appearance of your character and house. With hundreds of decorative items to choose from, you'll have no trouble creating the home of your dreams!

  • Xbox controller support (with rumble)! (Keyboard still required for text input)

  • Over two hours of original music.

Even though I never played Harvest Moon

I've never played an Harvest Moon game before and I really enjoyed this game. I think my perspective might be useful since most of the comment seem to compare this game to HM . Stardew Valley is great if you want a relaxing experience. There's a lot to do each day, but I never felt overwhelmed or pressured to accomplished too much. The farm slowly grows and gets more diverse preventing me from settling in the routine. The season also helps keeping the game fresh by being short and distinct. A new season brings new crops, new events and new music. Stardew Valley is not perfect though. The mouse and keyboard control are awkward, but the interface isn't design with a controller in mind. The game doesn't do a great job teaching new all there is to know. It took me 4 in game days to realize how to properly feed the chickens. In conclusion, Stardew Valley is a game that stand on it's own. It provide an outlet for your escapism and doesn't get repetitive.

The Chamomile Tea of Gaming

That title might sound like a slur. It's not. Sometimes you really need a little chamomile tea. It soothes your nerves, it settles your stomach, it puts you in a warm, comfy place where everything is okay for a few minutes. Your real-life job keeps getting undone by incompetents who expect you to fix their mistakes. Your friends on social media are at each other's throats. You're part way-through a grim sepia first-person shooter and an adventure game whose creators think making you choose between three different bad options, all of which have predictable tragic consequences, constitutes good writing. Come to Stardew valley. Learn how to fish. Mull the benefits of planting a mess o' corn versus a patch of amaranth. Settle down and marry a nice girl or fella. Throw your baby into the air and watch them speech bubble hearts at you. Bring the town's old misanthrope fried mushrooms and watch him slowly unclench around you. Pet your cat, or dog. What could go wrong? Well, you might overextend yourself in one of the (entirely optional) dungeons and wake up in the clinic with some stuff missing. You could catch a busted pair of glasses in the river instead of a salmon. You might accidentally swing your axe and destroy the fruit tree you'd been saving for all week. You might discover that the person you'd been buttering up to be your sweetheart really doesn't like poppies. It's okay. You'll pick yourself up and try again. You'll figure it out. It's going to be all right. Your work will pay off, you'll expand your house, and soon enough, everyone is going to wonder how the town ever got by without you. ...And then you'll look up and discover that you just spent an hour cracking geodes and aging your latest batch of mead. It's all just so... nice. I've spent way too much time in Stardew Valley, exploring all the things you can do. And if the game's web site is to believed, version 1.4 is coming. Put down the plasma rifle, and grab a hoe. A gentler life is calling...

Great Gameplay but DRM-Only Multiplayer

Have bought this game for multiple platforms and as a gift for a family member, so I consider myself a fan. I've played through once and started several other farms/characters to explore playing differently. Stardew Valley is a great game, and I've enjoyed playing it alone a lot. I was very eager to start playing Multiplayer when it came out and I think the MP gameplay was delivered very nicely in the 1.3.x updates, so that running a multiplayer farm with family or friends worked well and offered everyone good chances to explore independently and work together. Sadly, DRM-free multiplayer was since removed, and multiplayer now only works using DRM platforms from GOG or Steam, so I won't be buying as a gift for anyone else and will probably revert my install to 1.3 and stay there so I can continue playing with my kids. Very disappointed with this development, which accounts for the missing two stars in this assessment. This was developing into a great multi-platform, mostly-respectful option for play between friends and family, but the requirement for DRM has taken it off the list for me. I don't want my kids to grow up feeling like fun must be sanctioned by strangers. Starbound makes a better option with more scope for different play-styles, but the aesthetics of community and country living were a big draw to Stardew Valley. Thanks for a great gaming experience, nevertheless. Stardew Valley has given lots of relaxing and fun playtime and has a nice long game progression with a good mix of challenge, grind, and creativity.

YOU WILL BUY THIS GAME...

This game has got the most advanced Anti-Piracy programmed into its system. No hacker will ever crack it. Even GOGs DRM-free policy failed to touch this game. It is un-pirateable. Don't believe me? "Try before you buy." I DARE YOU!!! You WILL by this game within the week. Why? Because this game is downright incredible! It is a game about building relationships. Relationships with others... relationships with nature... even the relationship you have with youself. It is about growing; drifting along with the ebb and flow of life. It is about overcoming hardship by connecting with the world around you. It will not challenge you. It will make you happy. It is a beautiful game.
