Description

You've inherited your grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won't be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The community center, once the town's most vibrant hub of activity, now lies in shambles. But the valley seems full of opportunity. With a little dedication, you might just be the one to restore Stardew Valley to greatness!

Features
  • Turn your overgrown field into a lively farm! Raise animals, grow crops, start an orchard, craft useful machines, and more! You'll have plenty of space to create the farm of your dreams.

  • 4 Player Farming! Invite 1-3 players to join you in the valley online! Players can work together to build a thriving farm, share resources, and improve the local community. As more hands are better than one, players have the option to scale profit margin on produce sold for a more challenging experience.

  • Improve your skills over time. As you make your way from a struggling greenhorn to a master farmer, you'll level up in 5 different areas: farming, mining, combat, fishing, and foraging. As you progress, you'll learn new cooking and crafting recipes, unlock new areas to explore, and customize your skills by choosing from a variety of professions.

  • Become part of the local community. With over 30 unique characters living in Stardew Valley, you won't have a problem finding new friends! Each person has their own daily schedule, birthday, unique mini-cutscenes, and new things to say throughout the week and year. As you make friends with them, they will open up to you, ask you for help with their personal troubles, or tell you their secrets! Take part in seasonal festivals such as the luau, haunted maze, and feast of the winter star.

  • Explore a vast, mysterious cave. As you travel deeper underground, you'll encounter new and dangerous monsters, powerful weapons, new environments, valuable gemstones, raw materials for crafting and upgrading tools, and mysteries to be uncovered.

  • Breathe new life into the valley. Since JojaMart opened, the old way of life in Stardew Valley has changed. Much of the town's infrastructure has fallen into disrepair. Help restore Stardew Valley to it's former glory by repairing the old community center, or take the alternate route and join forces with Joja Corporation.

  • Court and marry a partner to share your life on the farm with. There are 12 available bachelors and bachelorettes to woo, each with unique character progression cutscenes. Once married, your partner will live on the farm with you. Who knows, maybe you'll have kids and start a family?

  • Spend a relaxing afternoon at one of the local fishing spots. The waters are teeming with seasonal varieties of delicious fish. Craft bait, bobbers, and crab pots to help you in your journey toward catching every fish and becoming a local legend!

  • Donate artifacts and minerals to the local museum.

  • Cook delicious meals and craft useful items to help you out. With over 100 cooking and crafting recipes, you'll have a wide variety of items to create. Some dishes you cook will even give you temporary boosts to skills, running speed, or combat prowess. Craft useful objects like scarecrows, oil makers, furnaces, or even the rare and expensive crystalarium.

  • Customize the appearance of your character and house. With hundreds of decorative items to choose from, you'll have no trouble creating the home of your dreams!

  • Xbox controller support (with rumble)! (Keyboard still required for text input)

  • Over two hours of original music.

The good the bad the ugly

Things I LOVE about Stardew Valley: 1. It requires creativity. 2. It requires systemizing and time management. 3. Game world is beautiful. 4. It is possible to explore the world for days and days. I have played for over 1,000 hours and did not get bored. 5. Hilarious cheat where you can get items by naming farm animals or changing your name and talking to villagers. 6. I love cooking tasks. List of dishes could be longer. 7. Ginger Island is gorgeous and gives generous abundant gifts. 8, Many ridiculously funny hats. 9. Ability to pet cat and farm animals. 10. Ability to fully customize farm and farm houses. Kitchen remodels need to be added. Things I HATE about Stardew Valley: 1. Ableism. Fishing mini game is 100% ableist and inaccessible to people without eye to hand coordination. 2. Harmful Autism stereotypes. Demetrius is 100% incorrect representation of an Autistic person. If you don't know anything about Autism ask actually Autistic people. That is a good start. 3. You cannot marry Linus. 4. Bought affection. Not everyone's love language is gifts. Zero variety there Concerned Ape. 5. Necessity to marry in order to achieve perfection. This is some neurotypical BS on steroids. You ruin villagers lives dreams careers and aspirations by marrying them. 6. Ability to harm and abuse villagers at will using slingshot. Concerned Ape get some therapy you are sick. If I am able to abuse villagers then villagers ought to be able to kill me in return. Like game over kill me. 7. Ability to sacrifice children. As a multiple survivor of attempted filicide I have this to tell to Concerned Ape - get some therapy you are sick. 8. Blind capitalism and environmental destruction. Slaughter of native species. Literally every other person asks you to murder or destroy. 9. Necessity to murder native species in order to progress in both mines. I do not want to slaughter serpents. They are gorgeous. I want to be their friend. 10. Children never grow up. Like what?..

Harvest Moon with social justice

These bucolic life/farm sim type games aren't hard to get right. Throw the player into a pretty environment, add a basic laber/money sink loop with upgrades, and add characters to build virtual relationships with. Throw in a plot to give the whole thing some reason for existing and bam! you've got a game. This game fails pretty hard at things that aren't even remotely difficult to get right. Probably because the developers were more interested in gossamer thin allegory and flat out preaching than they were in making a good game. The basic plot conflict reads like a rabid Fern Gully fan played Rune Factory and decided to mash the two together while removing everything that made either one interesting. The characters are implausible and stiff with token lifestyle choices. I guess that's good in the realism department, because every single interaction you have with them is transactional. Building relationships is just another chore you do, and every unlocked interaction is going to preach to you about the value of tolerance or diversity in some fashion. Yes, lord, let this humble peon labour for the privilege of being brainwashed. The gameplay loop itself is more tedium and the upgrades essentially bring you up to the "this is where I should have been when the game started" level. The dungeon segment is boring and anything but challenging. At least we'll always have Rune Factory.

Cum-ew Walkies

For a game that's based around getting away from the stresses and weariness of modern living it only succeeds in adding a bucket load of aggrovation to my life. There is almost no inventory space, because of course there is. FFS Developers STOP DOING THIS. There are unlockables, because of course there are. FFS Developers STOP DOING THIS. There are collectibles, because of course there are. FFS Developers STOP DOING THIS. There is a main character who runs slowly and walks even slower, because of course he does. FFS Developers STOP DOING THIS. There is a very limited day/cycle where certain places are only/closed AND you cannot stay up past 2am, because of course you can't. There is an inane control/UI system that try's to appease keyboard and controller options and falls horribly between the two. There's very little gold/progress in the beginning, because of course there is. FFS Developers STOP DOING THIS. Leaving aside these frustrations the game is actually dull, boring, not in watching grass grow kind of way, more in a "is that all?" kind of way. You walk around alot with some mundane agrarian tasks. Modern life is much better than that, and it has computers, central heating and cars to get around in (very quickly).

Not compatible

I would never have expected that a game with pixel graphics to refuse to start on my three-year-old laptop. Apparently this title is an exclusive to devices which support the XNA "HiDef" profile, whatever that means.

Slow Movement Speeds RUIN It For Me...

WHY IS THIS GAME SO POPULAR? The "running" speed is PATHETIC, and the walking speed is completely POINTLESS, because they're so slow; shouldn't take THIS long to get from Point A to Point B; even the original Harvest Moon had a DASH BUTTON! This, by itself, makes the game EXCRUCIATING to play! The character creator/editor is ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE in which only one option can be seen at a time, and they're all only numbered, so you have to flip through each and every single option to see what they look like; WHY DO GAME DEVELOPERS KEEP MAKING CHARACTER CREATORS/EDITORS LIKE THIS?? I should be able to make my selections from a menu in which previews for each choice are all shown AT THE SAME TIME, so I can compare and contrast them right next to each other! Deltarune did it right (even if its character creator/editor was completely POINTLESS as per its own meta humor). The above two problems could've been solved in an update; apparently the game HAS been updated since its original release, so you'd THINK they could've at least solved the SLOW movement problem! The town's poorly laid-out, and seems like a random arrangement of buildings; nobody designs towns like this in real life, or in games, IF they're smart... The only thing this game wanted to make me do was just go back and play the original Harvest Moon on the SNES.
