Description

You've inherited your grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won't be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The community center, once the town's most vibrant hub of activity, now lies in shambles. But the valley seems full of opportunity. With a little dedication, you might just be the one to restore Stardew Valley to greatness!

Features
  • Turn your overgrown field into a lively farm! Raise animals, grow crops, start an orchard, craft useful machines, and more! You'll have plenty of space to create the farm of your dreams.

  • 4 Player Farming! Invite 1-3 players to join you in the valley online! Players can work together to build a thriving farm, share resources, and improve the local community. As more hands are better than one, players have the option to scale profit margin on produce sold for a more challenging experience.

  • Improve your skills over time. As you make your way from a struggling greenhorn to a master farmer, you'll level up in 5 different areas: farming, mining, combat, fishing, and foraging. As you progress, you'll learn new cooking and crafting recipes, unlock new areas to explore, and customize your skills by choosing from a variety of professions.

  • Become part of the local community. With over 30 unique characters living in Stardew Valley, you won't have a problem finding new friends! Each person has their own daily schedule, birthday, unique mini-cutscenes, and new things to say throughout the week and year. As you make friends with them, they will open up to you, ask you for help with their personal troubles, or tell you their secrets! Take part in seasonal festivals such as the luau, haunted maze, and feast of the winter star.

  • Explore a vast, mysterious cave. As you travel deeper underground, you'll encounter new and dangerous monsters, powerful weapons, new environments, valuable gemstones, raw materials for crafting and upgrading tools, and mysteries to be uncovered.

  • Breathe new life into the valley. Since JojaMart opened, the old way of life in Stardew Valley has changed. Much of the town's infrastructure has fallen into disrepair. Help restore Stardew Valley to it's former glory by repairing the old community center, or take the alternate route and join forces with Joja Corporation.

  • Court and marry a partner to share your life on the farm with. There are 12 available bachelors and bachelorettes to woo, each with unique character progression cutscenes. Once married, your partner will live on the farm with you. Who knows, maybe you'll have kids and start a family?

  • Spend a relaxing afternoon at one of the local fishing spots. The waters are teeming with seasonal varieties of delicious fish. Craft bait, bobbers, and crab pots to help you in your journey toward catching every fish and becoming a local legend!

  • Donate artifacts and minerals to the local museum.

  • Cook delicious meals and craft useful items to help you out. With over 100 cooking and crafting recipes, you'll have a wide variety of items to create. Some dishes you cook will even give you temporary boosts to skills, running speed, or combat prowess. Craft useful objects like scarecrows, oil makers, furnaces, or even the rare and expensive crystalarium.

  • Customize the appearance of your character and house. With hundreds of decorative items to choose from, you'll have no trouble creating the home of your dreams!

  • Xbox controller support (with rumble)! (Keyboard still required for text input)

  • Over two hours of original music.

Lovely

Good to chill with. It's so fun and cheery. The music is beautiful. What's most impressive is that the entire game was made by one person. If you like raising crops and foraging in your games, then I suggest stardew valley to you.

Great game, MANUAL SAVE PLEASE!

This game is amazing. The others have said it, the almost flawless rating speak for themselves. However it has one huge flaw, which is game-breaking for me: there is no manual save. I mean, the game is meant to be played at a leasurly pace, diligently gathering, exploring, making use of the full game day. Ideally a full day lasts about 15-30 minutes (often pausing the game to think, craft, manage the inventory, look at the map, recipes, relationships, etc.). However some of us are on a tighter schedule. I have an infant son and I only get playnig time once he's asleep. Now, if he wakes I have to go almost immediately. It would be great if I could just save, quit and go, putting him and myself to sleep as well. But as there is no manual save, every in-game night there is a struggle. Do I have another 20 minutes? Sometimes I just quit because I'm not sure, wasting much of the precious playing time. Why for heaven's sake should this be an issue in 2016 PC gaming??? The stupides game design I've ever seen. Additionally, if you read about it on steam, there is a bug, when the game just doesn't save, so you sometimes lose full in-game days. This could also be mitigated by quicksave system.

Fun, Relaxing, Lots to Do

This is a game where you can farm, fish, explore dangerous mines, raise animals, make friends, get married, play a minigame on an arcade machine, unlock secret areas with a few new characters, and more. The number of different items in the game is astonishing. The game is fairly relaxing because you have no real upkeep expenses and your character doesn't have to eat to live. Obviously, it is heavily inspired by Every character in the game has something like five special cutscenes. Their dialogue (which is usually just whatever they say when you click on them to say hi) will change as you get to know them. For the six men and six women available to marry, the last few of these will have romantic undertones or be straight up kissing them. One aspect of the game that may seem restrictive but that I like is how saving works. Each day lasts for 12.6 minutes of real time if you play from 6AM to midnight in game, without doing things like pulling up menus or reeling in a fish that pause the game's clock. However, you can go to bed any time you want to end your day. So each day can be over as quickly as you want. This is the only way your day ends, unless you pass out for staying up until 2 AM or you get your health drained by enemies in a place like the mines. Staying up past midnight, or worse, passing out at 2am, will leave your character tired the next day, and getting your health drained will also cost you a few random inventory items. The game saves when, and only when, your day ends. You can have multiple play-throughs with their own save file simultaneously, but you can only have one save file per play through. This is fine, because the game is very forgiving. This game has a lot of replay value.

One of the best games this decade

Stardew Valley is one of my all time favorite games, its not overly complex but has enough depth and grind to keep you interested without making it a frustrating experiance. Had a rough week at work/school? then try this game its quite relaxing and satsifying. The only downside I would argue is the combat which is a tad cluncky you do get use to it however.

A peacefull reprieve

I've played through the "story" if you will and there's not much left to discover, unless I start over and romance someone different or aim for the Joja-ending, and still I come back to my farm, making wine, shoving goat-cheese into my lovers face and throwing my baby up in the air hoping she'll learn how to fly. It's just something peaceful to do to stress down and escape the stress of the world. While the rest of the game really is 5-star material it's this stress down thing that really cements it as a 5-start experience.
