Starbound excels as a crafting and exploration game, as a 2D platformer with varied and engaging combat, and as a Zelda-esque story RPG with a detailed world and memorable alien cultures to interact with. The sheer volume of different kinds of locations to discover, items to craft and build great structures with, and flashy ways to vanquish aliens prevent any part of the experience from getting boring quickly.

A special place in my heart for this
Starbound stands the best for me among all games of it's kind. Some says it's crunky. Some says it's buggy. Some says it's abandoned by it's creators. But not all of it is truth. From the very beginning, since Starbound has been released on Early Access in Steam, this game got through many transformations, rebalanses, changes e.t.c., but it's main concept never changed. It's about crafting and inhabiting particular planets, but it's still about exploring, and far more deep than any game of it's kind (hello, Terraria). You can literally inhabit and conquer every planet in the game, and make it your home. I sincerelly love Starbound, from EA to it's release.

Starbound = Terraria ^ 2
Like No Man's Sky but really good and in 2D. The only downside is the lack of normal tutorial. There are too many things you can craft/build/do without any description. Better keep strarbound wiki always open )

Incredibly inexpensive for what you get!
This is an fun, excellent game with many hours of game play. This game is worth every penny you spend on it. I found it a little confusing at first with the functionality of both buttons and such, but if you give it a bit of time, you'll understand why the developers decided to go this way, and it makes game-play easier. I'm amazed at the simplicity still yet the complexity of the game. There are many ways you can play this game and never get bored. It can be play single person or multi-person (with the included server). And there are some excellent mods available (if you are not a purist). If you have not yet tried Starbound, do yourself a favour, and try it now!

AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!
While no video game is perfect, this particular one is a MASTERPIECE among indie games! When it first got released? The game was great; even superior, compared to "Terraria", in many ways! But now they added mechanics for space crews, shops, and even MECH COMBAT, with CUSTOMIZABLE MECHS?!? In addition to EXPANDED SPACE EXPLORATION?!? NOW you guys made it TRULY addictive! I swear; this is probably the GREATEST indie video game, that I've EVER played! (It's THAT great!) Plus, there are PLENTY of mods already available, for it, to expand replay value even FURTHER! If you like "Terraria"? "Starbound" is TOTALLY worth your money; even more so, in fact!
