Just missing one thing...

This a great collection that takes me back to a amazing era of gaming. Going from Ad-Lib music to Sound Blaster with the digital samples and speech. Then adding CM-32 for the music. Great days. The only thing missing is the original MT-32\CM-32L specific Midi files that were only on the original Floppy Disk version. This is still a fantastic game to play. The B-wing campaign is a lot better than Imperial Assault. (A story about grain) Thank you to GOG for this release.

All Versions here!

All six versions are here including the CD collector's CD version. Bear in mind I had to refresh my collection to see the two new versions. They wouldn't install at first on their beta Galaxy but they did install manually from the web. Thanks so much GOG!

Some of the best space games ever made

Played this game (and its Tie Fighter partner) so much back when they were first released. The games are an arcadestrategy space combat simulator in the Star Wars universe during the classic trilogy. The game features a hub where you can do things like training runs, check ship info and go on real missions. The gameplay is a standard cockpit view and works well with a gamepad (back when these were first released). The keyboard controls all the ships equipment and power levels: shields, lasers, hyperdrive etc. so I found myself keeping a close proximity to the keyboard to play this game. The game has its own "story" of sorts and missions involve disabling frigates, escort "quests", strikes and other types of activities all the while engaging in plenty of dog fights with the empire using some of the classic alliance starships such as the X-Wing, Y-Wing and A-Wing. During the fights the player must adjust speed velocity, shields and laser levels accordingly using the keyboard, again this can be a bit tough when using a controller but I found it to be completely playable that way. (In other words, I got real good at it). All around one of the funnest and most engaging games I played back when they were released. They still hold up well after all these years and I can't recommend these enough.

An Utter Classic

This was actually the first PC game I owned on my Dad's old 486. It's the game that got me into flight simulators and is also the game that has made me use inverted mouse in FPS games. The dogfighting is sublime, the missions fun and the the music, oh my the music. If you like combat flight sims, hell, if you like shooting at stupid little eyeball things with glorious neon lasers and "Proton Torpedoes" then play this game! Some people say that Tie Fighter was a better game, but they are Imperial spies trying to lure you to the dark side of the force!

Still good and enjoyable

Installed yesterday and play the version 98. Some 23 years there but still good and enjoyable. Some keys, if you play Tie Fighter, are not there, but that was always so. Dont forget, to quit or end mission use H(Hyperdrive). One key, lack for me, G(missions Goals). But nothing of terrible there and you have B(Mission briefings). A pretty good old game.
