STAR WARS™: X-Wing Special Edition

This game is hard. It depends on you if its challenging hard or punch the wall hard. I fall into the punch the wall group as I lost a laptop due to my joystick falling on it at an accelerated rate. oops. flying a y-wing against tie interceptors was not fun. The others have done a great job of talking it up. Just remember there is very little that is sweeter than nostalgia.

It's great to see classics making a comeback! I tried using the original game disk, and I needed to use a converter. This is so much easier! Thanks for brining this old classic back. It really brings me back to the beginning of my childhood.

Windows 98 version won't even launch without one

Got it on the cheap during the Star Wars sale, and considered also picking up Rebel ASSAULT combo but this game has turned me away. Some games are better left as memories. It looks great, those pixel graphics well never not look good, but the gameplay is really REALLY primitive. In classic flight sim sensibilities nearly every dang button on the keyboard has a command, when likely 6 or 7 would've sufficed. Despite the view switching being a novelty, it's really a pain when you do it accidentally and end up staring at R2D2 while getting pulverized by interceptors. The music is dull and loops over and over and the draw distance and low resolution mean that it's incredibly easy to lose track of enemy ships /objectives and just drift off into space. It's a game I want to love, but can't really recommend to anyone. The dogfighting in Pandemic's battlefront, and heck, even EA's remakes are lightyears ahead of this both in gameplay and graphics. I respect the classics, but this game isn't worth the 3.50 I spent. Watch someone on youtube play it if you're feeling nostalgic and save your money. Or better yet, watch that gorgeous TIE Fighter Animation Otaking did.
