Buyer beware - not properly patched
The game requires a joystick to function, yet modern joysticks suffer from continual read errors leading to constant drift, making the game completely unplayable. Forums have time consuming work-arounds for the Windows versions of the game, which are no help for the Mac version. Why even release on Mac OSX if issues known on the forum since 2010 are not corrected?

Update for joystick
Great game! Bring back lots of memories. The only thing that would make this a 5 star game is a badly needed update to support current logitech joysticks. You just can't be the best you can be in this game without the twist rudder control. This is badly needed for both X-Wing and Tie Fighter.

Not support iMUSE and MIDI
TIE Fighter(1998) NOT support iMUSE. So there is no interactive music. When you kill enemy, no Fanfare playback. Allmost all BGMs playback poor ( 8 bit ? ) wave sound, instead gorgeous midi soundtrack originaly bundled. And some are missing ( register bgm, tactical instruction bgm etc. ).
