STAR WARS™: TIE Fighter Special Edition

Well, I played this games all night long as I was young it was absolutly amazing. I got the Floppy Disk Edition also included " Defender of the Empire" , so I don`t know the collectors CD or the 1998 Edition. Anyway, I`m very happy that this game run now on modern PC`s with Win 7 or 8 because it is one of the best game ever made. You can even play the 1994 Version with the Mouse and the 1998 Version with a Gamepad is also enough to have some fun, but if you want real pleasure, you need a joystick. But why is the collector`s CD 1995 missing, GOG if you got the rights please publish it, than it would be 5 Stars. MfG sweetoh

I bought the original in 1994 for $49.00, I only got rid of it after I dumped my XP gear, I can't imagine how many hours I killed/wasted/enjoyed on it, it was so hard, but still great fun. Tie Fighter and Aces of the Pacific were my two best time wasters in the 1990's, I would pay top dollar to have Windows 8 versions with full wide screen and full surround, run it from my laptop to my 60" via HDMI !!

Despite what some whiners in other comments may say, this version of Tie fighter is excellent. Great graphics great sound quality and excellent story. If you wanna play arguably one the best star wars games ever, give this a shot.

Real pilots don't need shields.

Often, when I buy games from GOG, I find that time has either not been kind, or I really liked some fairly average games (or maybe a mix of both?) TIE Fighter is not one of those times. It was and remains one of the finest space sims ever made, with a challenging (but not frustrating) difficulty level, excellent mechanics, a wide variety of Imperial ships to fly, and graphics which have aged remarkably well (at least on the DOS CD version, the win 98 version has some horrid low res textures that actually look worse than the '94 Gourad Shaded ones) Frankly, for £6/$9, if you have a joystick get this game.
