LIFE-LIKE REACTIONS from characters and environments that are different every time you play
The game shows its age and the fact that it was made for consoles, is still fun to play and the Sith power trip is really cool but may not be for everyone.
If it's one genre of games that has never really appealed to me, in all my years of gaming, it's platformers. And to all intents and purposes, that's what The Force Unleashed is. Leap up here, leap up there, toss around some Jawas or Stormtroopers, then leap around some more.
Although you can use a controller, as a PC gamer, I've always preferred mouse and keyboard. The problem there is that because it's a console port, the controls are horribly optimised and with all that leaping around, or combo jumps and attacks, it just gets tedious. Especially when trying to time much jumping around to reach yet another platform, but fail repeatedly because the input method timing is poor.
Fighting is dull and repetitive, so I ended up tossing enemies off platforms most of the time. Although that was novel and amusing at first, it soon became tiresome too. Then there's boss fights with QTEs, which are just a chore.
However, all that aside the story is pretty good, as are the graphics and surroundings, with plenty of activity in each area to make them feel alive. The sound effects, musical score, and voice acting, are all excellent too. As a Star Wars fan, I'll probably give it another try in the future, but after getting half-way through and just not feeling inspired to continue, perhaps The Force will be with me in a future attempt.
I've played this on many consoles and got it on PC thinking it would be better than all the rest..I was wrong. This port is absolute fucking garbage and the level design on some of the levels (Raxus prime and Felucia) is fucking garbage, I found myself sliding off invisible walls and not landing on platforms when I jump due to wierd invisible walls and no grab or auto grab feature (fucking why?) this game is amazing but the port and some of the level design can be fucking atrotious. This game is in serious need of a autobath.
Pros:
-Great story.
-Fun force powers.
-No political bullshit.
-Cool/wide variety of cristals and pasive abilities.
-Awesome levels(Most open to exploration, more later)
-Great replayability.
-Cool animations and God of War like kills.
-Mutilation(TFU2 does it better though)
-Cool outfits and great graphics.
-Compelling, great main character.
-rewarding leveling system, Highly.
-Satisfying power upgrades(You can see it and it applies to skins as well).
-'Easy' learning curve(Depends on the person, for me it was)
-Wide enemy variety.
-Cool/satisfying Dlc's(JT).
-You can play as Vader and kick the shit out of everyone.
-Sith/Jedi ending.
-Cool/ amazing force combos.
-Training Room.
-Autosave/manual save.
-Great UI and Menu. Freaking love it mate.
-You fight literally everyone, well almost.
-Levels are wisely done so you can't get bored(Depends) with really cool stuff you can use to explode stuff or just have fun.
-Everything(Almost) is destroyable.
-Great physics, you can break a spaceships windows and the clones go swallowed by space(Example)
-Amazing dodge system, and great force powers. Read how to do them if you don't the game gets boring. You'll be using 2 out of 20.
-Mindless fun.
Cons:
-Cluncky controls.
-Sometimes force powers don't work(Controller at least).
-Frustrating combat(Overwhelmed by enemies or insta-killed, Kazdan Paratus comes to mind).
-Unskipable cutscenes.
-Poor replayability(Depends on you, it's my fifth time beating it, fifth? Tenth more like it), lacks combats from the PSP version or the endless waves and the DLC. Fuck exclusivity, am I right?
-Buggy levels(Time to time, sometimes is enjoyable though).
-You play as Vader only once.
-Training room sucks, more like slaughter room. No option to customize enemies.
-Bugs/issues, minor and mayor alike, depends on the system, the game is old after all.
-Funny, sometimes stupid AI. Others they kick your ass for good.
