Controls don't work correctly

Selecting and shooting enemies rarely works in this game. Repeatedly when playing the game doesn't allow me to shoot enemies that are plainly in sight and in the team's line of fire. I move mouse over enemies, and the cursor doesn't turn green. Repeatedly right-click enemies, and team doesn't fire. Meanwhile team is taking fire and damage. Couldn't finish even the first training mission due to this issue. Alway loose one or more team members and fail the mission. Used dgVoodoo, and it didn't fix the problem. Tried all the Compatibility options under Properties for the EXE, and it didn't fix the problem either. C'mon GOG!! Test app before selling them!!

It's just not good

I wanted to like this game. I really did. But... meh. I'm a big fan of Desperados, and I imagined this to be very similar. But nope. I'm a guy with OCD, so I usually sweep the floor in my own pace. Now... let me tell you how this went. Mission 1 is basically the tutorial, all is well. Second mission: you shall not kill anyone, because reasons. So now you constantly stun your enemies, and run around like a headless chicken. Half of the floor is filled with impenetrable force fields, and the elevators work inconsistently. Finally, there's a computer terminal of sorts that you seemingly can't use. You select your whole team, they say nope. You select your scientist, NOPE. You restart the mission a couple of times, big fat NOPE. Finally, I check YouTube for a walkthrough, and guess what, you need to select the engineer, THEN it'll work. The game is too stupid to select the appropriate person if you select the whole team. Sure, whatever. Mission 3, Romulans. Cool, finally I can kill my enemies, right? Right, except they RESPAWN INFINITELY. Are you kidding me? Whatever, got to the terminal, mission complete. Mission 4... you infiltrate the Starfleet Academy, NO CASUALTIES. This is where I give up. If you're like me and you just HAVE to clean up the whole level before you can give it a rest, this game is not for you. Of course, there are other issues, especially with controls. Zooming in and out looks terrible, pathfinding sucks, especially when half your team goes to the selected point, but the other 2 are precisely out of the limits so they stay where they are... stuff like that. Selecting your team members before mission is a chore, and it's pretty much a given which characters you can choose anyway. They also have different speeds, so when it comes to fights, it's usually the fastest that gets in the line of fire the fastest, so of course your adversaries will shoot them first - which is usually your medic. I could go on, but... character limit. Just play Desperados.

A classic that never gets old

Played this game when it was first released and had to buy it again. It still holds up as a classic after all these years

Loved it, its a classic

Star Trek: Away Team is like X-COM with phasers and Federation ethics — tactical, clean, and surprisingly slick for its time. You’re not just blasting Klingons; you’re micromanaging moral choices in the middle of a firefight. The gameplay’s a bit stiff now, but the vibe? Peak early-2000s Trek grit meets Saturday-night LAN nostalgia. A hidden gem for anyone who likes their strategy with a dash of Starfleet diplomacy and photon torpedoes.
