so happy i get to play this again

As a kid I loved rainy days and snow days because I got to spend the whole day playing this and other trek games like bridge commander. Once you get the settings right in the direct x settings this game runs flawlessly in windows 11. I love the feel of this games, it has certain charms that modern RTS games have lost Guys if you want feel free to subscribe to my new youtube channel that's focused on star trek games. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCso0OLXrXkKEQ5Ohv2zwROw GOG Galaxy, love you guys so much for bringing us these classic star trek games!

VERY Stable!

I freaking love this game. It's one of my most favorite games of all time. It has ALWAYS been unstable even playing it on Windows 95/98 like it was designed to do. I actually still keep an old system around just to play this and other retro games but this is so freaking stable compared to the original. Yes, I have the original box and CD and everything. It's still a buggy, unstable game by it's very nature, like a lot of titles were back then. Somehow though the devs at GOG have been able to make this game amazingly stable. I've played this thing for like 40 hours and I haven't even had one crash! My main hardware: i7-7800X, 128GB RAM, 2TB SSD, GTX 970 (I only play older games so a 970 is plenty for me) I've also played it on the following hardware: i7-7700, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, GTX 1650 I haven't played it on a laptop because frankly there's no way you could play this with a laptop trackpad, and if you're going to sit at a desk with a laptop and a mouse, you might as well use a desktop with a big screen and stereo speakers.

Pretty good, not as good as the first

It's been a long time since I played Armada 2, so some of my memories are hazy, but I remember that it was fun, just not as fun as Armada 1. I appreciate that they attempted to evolve the design formula of the first game, and on paper a lot of the new features (warp, planet colonization, more ship types, etc) sound great, but they feel a bit redundant in practice. I think the clean design of the first game (just a handful of ship types + classic RTS formula + some unique mechanics like the crew and boarding) worked better, and that they should have tried to add just one new element for the sequel, instead of a bunch. That being said, the game was still a lot of fun to play, and the battles were very cinematic. The voice acting was excellent, the story was serviceable if unremarkable. I think this game can be a perfect example of a 4/5 or 8/10 game. It's good, just not mind blowing. For fans of ST, especially TNG, DS9 and VOY, it can be an extremely enjoyable ride.

Loved this RTS

This was my favourite RTS when I was younger, I got the game on release and played 1000's of hours on it. I even downloaded the map editor and made various online maps some of which became popular in the online community at the time. I really should play this game again soon.
