Star Trek™: Armada

This was one of the firsrt games I was introduced to as a kid and I still love it. Truly an iconic release for lovers of the franchise.

I was so glad when GOG made this one available. The campaign is definitely replayable and the instant action game play is wonderful too.

a fun little RTS that really takes me back to the good ol' days. would have rated it higher, but it is notoriusly buggy. ended up having to reistall and lost my progress. GOG did a decent job though, it used to crash all the time, but that hasn't happed to me with this version. again, really fun when it works, if not a bit slower paced than other RTSs

The graphics are dated and the screen is narrow, just how I remember. The unit pathing often leads to units stuck trying to pass each other, or taking dangerous routes instead of the safer ones. The story reads like bad fan fiction written in an afternoon. The tooltips do not give enough information about the abilities of the various ships or their intended role, which is something I remember the manual being important for. Overall, it's fun to watch Star Trek spaceships blow each other up, though if you're not a Star Trek fan, I'd give this game a hard pass.
