A true masterpiece
I cannot sing this game's praises high enough. The love child of Star Flight and the original Star Control 1 birthed one of the greatest games in history. Awesome music, creativity, story telling, depth...the list just goes on and on :)

Pure Brilliance
These games are mechanically very different from each other, but the combo for the money is amazing value. Star Con 1 is a Turn Based Strategy game with a real-time combat engine that carries over to SC2. It is a great little game which was actually ported to the Sega Genesis a while back, and is a lot of fun. Star Con 2 is a Strategy/RPG hybrid which, like a lot of great games, dips its toe into multiple genres. The writing, music, art, and overall design is top-rate. There is an excellent story that weaves the background of multiple galactic races together, and their is an immense amount of space to explore. You will not be sorry if you give this game a shot. You might miss some of the newer elements of RPG's like organized logs and quest trees, but that is a small price to play for a milestone in the genre.

Astonishing!
Missed this title back in the day as my PC-Gaming Adventures started around 95. As probably most people on GOG I try not to judge games by their graphics although I have to admit in the beginning this game presented me with quite a challenge in that department as did the fact that it is a pre-mouse game. All the more astounding is the vastness of gaming experience this title offers with just 5 buttons. The story is more than good, the game-play is addictive and it takes only about 15 minutes for your imagination to kick in and fill in the blanks and smooth the rough edges of the 1992 graphics. Get it, you will not be disappointed.
