The Zone, a place full of unfathomable wonders and sinister threats – former exclusion territory near the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. This most dangerous place on Earth became even more mysterious after an obscure accident in 2006. Anomalies with precious artifacts, starving mutants and greedy thugs have flooded these lands along with stalkers searching for a new life and ways to get rich… Feel as one of them in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl!

 

SEARCHING

To survive, a true stalker must not stop his search. Valuable trophies, equipment and supplies, new friends, shortcuts or answers to the grimmest riddles of these lands are what give a chance not to perish. So prepare for a foray to find your fate in the Center of the Zone, the most protected place from unwanted guests.

 

HAZARD

The path of a stalker to his goal is never a walk in the park. A treacherous anomaly, able to mash even the most experienced fighter, the stray of ravenous mutants or jarring betrayal – any of these things can cost your life. Get ready to check your skills and gumption, enduring the superior numbers of rivals and mutants. Stay alert even when you are alone – here at the Zone, everything is rarely what it seems at first glance.

 

DESOLATION

These desolate lands of eternal autumn are full of hundreds of vagabonds. Though, the stalker is always on his own, facing dangers that are often unseen. Listen carefully, calculate every step and trust no one but yourself and Geiger counter. Only intuition combined with mastery and ice-cold guts can save a free stalker from being Lost to the Zone.

Vodka. AK74. Radiation. Wasteland. 3D Open world. Unexplainable anomalies and powerful artifacts. Brutal enemy difficulty and excellent early 2000's AI. Sound design is enough to use cues for everything, but also meh. Graphics were pretty good, even for the time. The atmosphere is unlike anything I have ever played. The only games that come close to being like stalker would be if you put Fallout 3 and Metro 2033 in a time machine together, and sent them back to the early 2000's. Cyka Blyat, This is Stalker. 5/5 Highly recommended.

Amazing and Unique

Shadow of Chernobyl is a very unique experience. It's a shooter that will scare you and keep you thinking. You can only carry so much, weapons degrade, you can get hungry and thirsty, you can make allies or enemies. If a shooter game ever wanted to feel like an RPG without actually being one, this game does it well. The world feels awesome. There is so much going on that you can replay this game numerous times and each time you will probably have a new experience in places you would not have thought that the AI almost kinda lives. Taking a new spin on Roadside Picnic and Stalker and making it a very entertaining video game, this is a game I'd highly recommend. The mod community for this game still lives today. The fans love it and if you play it you can see why. There are two major branches for the main story and both have more than one ending (one has two endings and the other has about six or seven I believe). This game is a spectacular game for fans of survival and/or shooters. 9/10

Masterpiece

The STALKER series as a whole, is a masterpiece.The setting,atmosphere,gun fights fit in every aspect out there. If you still haven't played the Prequel (Clear Sky) and Pripyat I suggest you to do so!

Great game, unfortunatelly quite buggy

I never played it before. It's quite different from other shooters I tried. The first half is slow paced and relatively boring. Halfway through the pace goes up and culminates in a wonderful climax. I enjoyed it. There are some issues with bugs - the game crashed a few times. It is still very playable though.

Best of the Series

It isn't as polished as CoP but with Zone Reclamation Project i believe you are good to go. Of course i recommend all 3 games (with the mods that keep this series alive) but buy SoC first for the best experience.
