Description

Buying this game will get you both the original version and the Enhanced Edition.

Great Emission, the biggest anomalous energy blowout from the times of Second Incident at The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, has shaken the world again and reshaped the Zone. To investigate its cause and and prevent future cataclysms is your only chance to survive in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky.

WAR OF FACTIONS

With the anomalous activity at its maximum, the unstable Zone continues to tremor with outbursts. The transformation of the Zone map destabilizes the fragile balance of forces in the Zone. Hostilities for the new territories, artifact fields and spheres of influence flare up among groups. Feuds and friendships are left behind – now, everyone watches out only for themselves. The Faction War has begun. To survive, join one of the parties and knock out opponents over the Cordon... Or benefit from working for all the factions at once, like a true mercenary.

NEW PATHS

The safe and trusted pathways are no more. Known places disappear in impenetrable fields of anomalies, stalkers and entire expeditions vanish or remain trapped within. Mysterious territories that have been lost since the appearance of the Zone are opening up, calling for explorers. Your mission is to become a pioneer and explore all the new areas that have become accessible in "Clear Sky"!

MYSTERIES OF THE PAST

As a mercenary named Scar, play a key role in Strelok’s fate and discover new details to the original game story, revealing its major secrets. Visit the familiar places as they were before the original game starts and witness the events that shaped the Zone to the years ahead.

Game features:

  • A prequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl, that reveals the backstory of the Zone, familiar characters and locations.
  • New types of equipment and weapons: HPSS-1m, hunting rifle, RP-74.
  • New locations: Swamps, Red Forest, Limansk and Abandoned Hospital, full of new stories and tasks.
  • An advanced upgrade system for weapons and armor with technicians, allowing you to improve and customize your favorite pieces.
  • Player's actions can affect the balance of power in the Zone and the influence of factions.
  • A dozen of new anomalies and artifacts, and a new artifact hunting system utilizing detectors.
  • Improved graphics, interface and AI, making the journey through the sinister radioactive lands even more convenient.

Could be good, but far too buggy.

Clear Sky is the least popular of the 3 Stalker games for a number of reasons. Some people mark it as their favourite for it's interesting attempt at dynamic faction wars and for it's higher focus on combat compared to the other two games. Unfortunately, even after many many years of community patching, the game is still an unstable bugfest. You will find that all your save files may randomly corrupt - assuming they don't corrupt when you enter the Limask area. Since there's no guarantee that even with a solid community patch set chosen from one of two or three solid contenders the game will actually allow you to finish without having to restart from save corruption, I find it very hard to recommend the game. In my opinion the other two games epitomize the Stalker experience better anyway, focusing more on exploration at your own pace - where Clear Sky kind of badgers you with constant updates about faction wars and pressures you into rushing through areas. This is assuming you aren't pressuring yourself through an area because you know it's notorious for save corruption, which is not a much better reason.

I just could not suffer it anymore.

I loved Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Prypjat, but i had never played Clear Sky. Seeing how brilliant the former two games are, i thought that even though the latter is often called the worst Stalker game it would still be miles above other shooters. Right? Well, i tried liking it. I suffered through the first level, the swamp. A level where you cannot see anything, there is almost no cover and you get shot at from bushes from enemies you cannot even make out. I suffered through Garbage, where i got a first taste of the incredible granade spam that the AI loves so much. They rain grenades with absolute pinpoint precision behind your cover, and they explode so quickly that evading them is often impossible, oneshotting you. I suffered through the Blood Suckers in the Army Warehouse, that are for some reason invincible when in their cloaked state. And the game throws three at you after you climbed some tower. So that when you climb down the ladder you get greeted by them instantly without a chance to pick them off from above. The thing that made me quit though is a basement in the Red Forest. It has two Poltergeists in it that throw all kinds of random garbage at you, taking most of my hp with one hit, or even oneshotting me with full health, while taking around 600 bullets each themselves. The door that lets you leave that place only opens after you killed these two, by the way. At this point i said to myself: Why am i doing this to myself? I deinstalled the game, and im going back to the Call of Chernobyl mod. Oh, and SPOILER! In Garbage you get your gear taken away in a story line quest, there is no way around it if you want to progress. And even though you can get your equipment back rather easily, all your money is gone forever. I only noticed a while later that i lost my money, and i had already overwritten my save. I havent touched the faction wars much, so i cannot comment on it. I just expect absurd AI greanade spam though. So no loss.

This game amazes me:

It is amazing how much bugs there is in this game even after using "Sky Reclamation Project" (SRP), it is amazing how annoying it is to die (more or less) immediately practically without any warning after running into an anomaly for the N'th time! It is amazing how frustrating it is to die for the N'th time squared after being killed by a single bullet from an enemy while looking for loot/while engaging another enemy! It is amazing how infuriating it is to die for the N'th time cubed because your weapon fails in the MIDDLE of a gunfight AGAIN!!!! It is amazing that after several bug fixes from the people behind this garbage, and even after bug fixes from the community, the game STILL crashes, corrupts save games and so on!! It is amazing how badly balanced the game is: Enemies sometimes die after one shot, and sometimes takes a full magazine to kill. Sometimes you can shoot and kill a group of enemies by a campfire one enemy after another without the others even reacting... You can sometimes barely see enemies in the light by a campfire, but they can time after time after time...... find you in the darkness, take aim, shoot and kill you before you can even fire a single shot!!!! The game is FULL of loot that you have to waste A LOT of time sorting, walking back and forth time after time to shops to sell so that you can earn money to buy equipment, and there is A LOT of walking (back and forth) in general. Enemies and missions sometimes spawns and spawns again and again and.... to a ridiculous degree. And if you thought that the game itself was bad, it is not as bad as the ending: A mix of spawning enemies in front of you, behind you, a poor "Boss fight", an ending that does not end the game anyways, and so on!! In conclusion: If you are not a masochist, stay FAR AWAY from this incredibly over hyped garbage! If you do not believe me when I tell you how bad this game is, then google the title together with "bugs"/"corrupted savegame" or similar....
