A great history and game.
the game is not the best of the saga, but, it's a complete S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience, the map, the guns, the suits, the artefacts, and the faction wars. it's a very good game.

buggy hell but somehow i beat it
do yourself a favor and download the SRP mod before playing... i didn't do that. the mod really helps, at least probably with the faction war bits and some optional add-ons to deal with "artificial difficulty" like the Cordon machine gun and grenade spamming. anyways, you like Call of Duty, well this is sort of slavic CoD without the MURIKA!!! multi-player/network is limited and only works without mods, so fuck that.

love the 1st one, hate cs
worst s.t.a.l.k.e.r game. soc is the best, cop is meh, cs is just bad. fps drops even on very modern powerful hw, very bad bugs making faction wars totally broken for example, second half of the game forcing the player into boring linear gameplay and 'garbage', the worst part of the original s.t.a.l.k.e.r, being the centre through which you need to travel between different levels is just pure bad. I was trying to speedrun the second half just to make the pain be over, finally I finished this and am done with clear sky. it's seriously bad. and they removed the best part of the original soc, rostok. unacceptable. the new maps like swamps and limansk and redone red forest are not even 1% as good as rostok (bar+wild territory) were. and the english va is so very bad... all in all, I love soc and hate cs, that's it. rant over

Great sequal, though not quite as good.
Play first time with SRP (Sky Reclamation Project,) then play mods found on moddb.com There are vanilla + mods that improve / change aspects but maintain the story, story mods that include completely new maps, weapons, mechanics... Clear Sky isn't quite as good as Shadow of Chernobyl or Call of Pripyat, but still enjoyable. I would play them in sequence of how they were published (SoC, CS, CoP) or if you only want to play one, just get SoC or COP.
