Chornobyl Exclusion Zone has changed dramatically after the second massive explosion in the year 2006. Take over a role of the lone stalker and explore photorealistic seamless open world in a 64-km² radioactive zone with a variety of environments that reveal post-apocalyptic atmosphere from different angles. Make your way through the Zone to define your destiny as you choose your paths within highly branching epic story.
Meet members of different factions deciding who of them worth your friendship and who deserve a bullet. Engage intense gunfights with a variety of enemies that follow different tactics trying to outsmart you. Choose your preferable firearms from 30 types of weapons with numerous modifications that allow creating hundreds of distinctive lethal combinations.
Prepare to encounter horrifying mutated creatures that will try to slaughter you following different behaviour model. Each mutant may appear in different subtypes which makes their behaviour less predictible. Truly extreme danger represent regions with lairs with numerous mutants hunting in large groups.
The most valuable artifacts and secrets of the Zone are hidden in the most dangerous places. Beware of the hazardous anomalies and unique devastating arch-anomalies as you hunt for highly valuable artifacts scattered around the Zone. Still needs a ton of work.
I broke my rule to never preorder games for this title. As you can guess I really regret it. Even after several patches almost every aspect of the games is broken in some way. Mods are the only saving grace, but after a while you get kinda tired trying to fix this game by repacking mods and solving conflict issues. Wait a few months for more patches and/or big sale.

Exceeds expectations
Honestly, this is the first game in years to come out in a state this good, I think. I'm running it on 3070GTX and it looks INCREDIBLE. The visual design is amazing, but sound? Oh my god, the sound! The shooting, notorious in the first game, is absolutely top notch. Guns handle much more predictably, and headshots sound (and feel) so much more satisfying. The interface, the side quests, the dialog - it shows why this game has been in the oven as long as it has (aside from the obvious factor of the development circumstances) Honest to god 5 stars, shame it didn't make the GOTY list.

Looks pretty good
I was quite worried that UE will look like a shiny cartoon mess, but there is definitely some grit to it visually. The atmosphere is unique and immersive. Unfortunately some console UI and gameplay has made it into the game which cheapens the experience. The combat is not great on my system because everything registers late. I have an RTX3060 and an i7 but I struggle to play even on the lowest settings. That said I do want to come back to this game which is a wonderful thing. The low graphics are quite nostalgic to me frankly and look passable.

This is it
This is one happy player. Over 130 hours and just finished Cordon (half way?). But I dig to walk around and take all side quests, just enjoy being a stalker. You know when something is good. This is it.

I love it but I it wont launch anymore.
I have played all the STALKER games and love the franchise. STALKER 2 is amazing and I want to give it 5 stars but since the 1.1 major update it keeps freezing while compiling shaders and often crashes. Sometimes if I delete the shader cache via the Disk Cleanup tool it will then work, sometimes I have to do that and then restart GOG and it will work, and sometimes I have to restart my PC, sometimes nothing gets it to work. Right now nothing gets it to work so I am leaving this 2 star review, that I wish was a 5 star review. I have had to uninstall and reinstall STALKER 2 twice since the 1.1 update and now it looks like I will be doing it for a 3rd time.
