Chornobyl Exclusion Zone has changed dramatically after the second massive explosion in the year 2006. Violent mutants, deadly anomalies, and warring factions have made the Zone a very tough place to survive. Nevertheless, artifacts of unbelievable value attracted many people called S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, who entered the Zone for their own risk, striving to make a fortune out of it or even to find the Truth concealed in the Heart of Chornobyl.

Choose your preferable firearms from 30 types of weapons with numerous modifications that allow creating hundreds of distinctive lethal combinations.
LEGENDARY MUTANTS WITH DIFFERENT BEHAVIOUR MODELS

Each mutant may appear in different subtypes which makes their behaviour less predictible. Truly extreme danger represent regions with lairs with numerous mutants hunting in large groups.

The most valuable artifacts and secrets of the Zone are hidden in the most dangerous places. Beware of the hazardous anomalies and unique devastating arch-anomalies as you hunt for highly valuable artifacts scattered around the Zone. Will you dare to unveil the mysteries of the Zone that took lives of many others before you?
Very solid shooter.
Location are crafted lovingly, and have this incredible abandoned/dangerous/unknown vibe.
Gameplay is somewhat simpler and has less sharp corners than original Stalkers.
Lots of bugs were fixed, so now the game is playable.
The story much better than typical western console shooter, with multiple unreliable narrators and some choices even meaningfully influencing the story (thankfully, this is kept to a minimum)
The most weird thing is about the Zone in its current state is that you can run for kilometers and not encounter even a single blind dog. There's a distinct lack of stuff to do in the last third of the game.
The total time GOG claims I have spent on this is likely innaccurate as most of that time is spent waiting for the Compiling Shaders loading screen or, if the game does miraculously load, standing completely still in the game hoping the choppiness goes away. The amount of time I've actually enjoyed a smooth experience on all Low graphics settings is a fraction of that. I'd probably rate this game a 2, but I must be fair considering I lack the RAM to meet minimum requirements.
I want to enjoy the game, but there are too many bugs and perforance issues. Even after 1.1.2. The main issue is the Compiling Shaders issue where the loading screen hangs. Here's one example that made fighting to get the game work seem not even worth it:
There's a mission where I need to find a guy hiding out in a windmill. This NPC wants me to recover an artifact from some cave. Go to cave, evade a Bloodsucker while reloading a dozen times because fighting it is a slide show. Finally running away rom the creature, grabbing the item and making my way back to the Windmill, it was cool to see the creature actually followed me. The creature began to rip and tear and this NPC who just stood there like nothing unusual was going on. I Was able to cheese the creature by using the NPC as a shield. Very immersion breaking.
Otherwise, NPCs regualry float around with their arms held outward.
I can't wait for better hardware and a few more patches or sadly dream and hold out for a PS5 version.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4600H
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti
Memory: 8GB
It's fun and immersive, I am having a ton of fun.
But there's fixes that need to happen to optimization, glitches, AI, some quality of life on keybinds and other "minor" things.
If you think you'd enjoy this game, you will have a blast, just know that it's not the perfect smoot experience all the way. But the game feels good to me.
Almost 4 weeks since release, still can't save my game in an entire area of the map while doing the main quest as it will brick the saves(means also you can't die or lose all progress you made since the last working save) and we just have radio silence on patches now. When it works the game is great, athmospheric and the guns feel good, too. But the techincal issues are frustrating. If they don't fix some random side quest, sure, but the main quest should work at this point without big hiccups.
The game is riddled with performance issues and bugs. The latest update has made the game unplayable as I can't even get past the compiling shaders part. It is a shame because the gameplay, environment and even the story is great.
