Sphere - Flying Cities

I suppose it might be good if you've never played a city builder before. As it stands, it has a tiny tech tree, very few building, and few random events. You'll spend most of your time tediously waiting for your base to move from one sector to another, to "mine" materials on a completely abstract hex map - just click and wait more. I didn't experience any of the lag issues other reviewers have mentioned, but I have a pretty beefy setup, so there's that I suppose.

I was able to get the jittery graphics to smooth out somewhat by using windwos 8 settings for the game. and it became a lot more playable. the game play problems: only received three elements in three hours of mining (not enough to learn any new tech) every game did this. construction drones kept stopping and not building repairing or removing anything for a long time 30+ minutes or more. moving with the mouse left click was pointless kept sending me into the atmosphere far from the city. I'm not asking for a refund but a fix so its more playable. Its the only game I've puchased through gog that has had issues like this, so I will still buy others but i will be leary about spending more than ten dollars on a game again.

The game basis is a bit like Frostpunk and has a nice setup of a floating city. But it lacks events, the info about builds is lacking a bit, the tech progression is annoying after the mid game, every scence looks the same and the storyline is not compelling. I played through the "campaign" just because I want to finish games I start, not because I was engaged a lot. Also some quality of life options would be nice, starting with the "world map" that is super annoying by being see-through, the scouting drones not having a "automatically scan the nearest unknown hex" and maybe a upgrade to be able to extract survivors with a special drone building or something.

This title had great potential. Although, the gameplay is cruelly umpolished, gameplay is clunky at best and the UI is really not fun to play with. I finished the campaign, but the game is such a pain to play that there is basically no replayability, even in sandbox. Developer really dropped the ball on this one. It plays like a Wish version of the much better game Ixion, which I would recommend 100X times more than Sphere - Flying Cities.
