Great Games
These games are quite retro, and good if you want to play the original as they have a great story. However they are a pain to play as they use a old fashion text parser, in which you have to enter (the correct) text command to interact with things in the game. GOG might not like me stating this but as has been mentioned in previous posts Space Quest 1 was re-released with improved VGA graphics, and the more user friendly point-and-click interface. Further Space Quest 2 was re-released by Infamous Adventures, with improved VGA graphics, interface and speech. This can be downloaded freely from their website. In my humble opinion you are better off giving the original releases by GOG a miss and playing the VGA remakes.

No VGA, but that's ok with me.
Ok first off, this gets 4 stars ONLY because it didn't include SQ1's VGA remake. HOWEVER, unlike many here, I'm not that miffed about it, as I've been looking for one that included the EGA version for a while now. The original SQ1 was one of the first PC games I ever played, and I was bummed that by the time I was able to get a copy of the collection on CDs they'd stopped including the original version, so I was thrilled when I found out this collection was using it instead of the remake. That said, you still lose points for not including it for completion's sake. I prefer the original's Star Wars style asthetics over the Sci-fi B movie theme of the remake. Anyway, onto the games. These are classic Sierra adventure games, and some of the best ones. They're a great blend of comedy and sci-fi and while these games are definitely "Nintendo Hard" it's hard not to WANT to screw up just to see/read all the comedic ways you can die. Also hope your typing and spelling skills are decent, because there's no mouse controls here, and there's a couple sections where you'll need to type commands fast or get blasted. So grab your space mop, buckle into your escape pod, and for the sake of the Two Guys from Andromeda, if it tells you not to push something, DON'T.
