Description
Enter the world of SOMA and face horrors buried deep beneath the ocean waves. Delve through locked terminals and secret documents to uncover the truth behind the chaos. Seek out the last remaining inhabitants and take part in the events that will ultimately shape the fate of the station. But be careful, danger lurks in every corner: corrupted humans, twisted creatures, insane robots, and even an inscrutable omnipresent A.I.

You will need to figure out how to deal with each one of them. Just remember there’s no fighting back, either you outsmart your enemies or you get ready to run.
  • From the creators of the cult classic Amnesia the Dark Descent.
  • Spine-chilling horror that raises questions about identity, consciousness and existence itself.
  • Mixes stealth, exploration and puzzles into a coherent narrative experience.

This Game Is Incredibly Confused

You've heard plenty about its story- how it's "existential" (cringe)- and while it is one of the few examples of "existential" (cringe 2: the recringening) horror done well, it's also buried under layers of tonal whiplash. You can literally go from reading someone's dying memories to having your support character get snarky at you within the same ten minutes. The game has monster encounters basically just because Amnesia had them, but they don't work here because the monsters are nonsense puzzles. There's one monster in particular who's basically a game of "red light, green light," and the game completely fails to convey you're supposed to do this. Not to mention they stick out so hard against the "existential" (cringe 3: return of the cringe) storyline that the whole monster subplot (yes, the main threat during gameplay is an element from a subplot) is resolved in what the game even admits was a detour. There's good to be had here, but it's buried under layers of mediocrity. If you have to play this, don't buy it full price. For the love of Satan, don't buy it full price. Wait for a sale or something.

Amazing experience

Amazing experience, story, gameplay, sound and graphics. It should been GOTY in 2015. Still thinking about the questions it gives you and implications after several days i finished it.

Superb

This is a truly superb game. It has been a long time since I was so enthousiastic about a game. It really scares me at times. I'm about half way I think. I started in normal mode, but not being to young I found it exhausting, particularly mister discohead. I have switched to safemode so I can enjoy the game as it is supposed to be played. The voice actors are excellent. The background music creates a spooky atmosphere. All in all a great game.

Great story, meddling gameplay

This is one of the best sci-fi story I've ever read. The question what is the boundary of human existence is very intriguing and the horror ambience is very good. When a horror game doesn't have cheap jump scare, it's always a good sign of how confidence the writer and the developer presenting their game's narrative. All the great things about this game is marred by 2 things: confusing monster segment (the one in the theta) and terrible bug at later stage. The former almost killed my interest in this game. I didn't undestand the monster's patrol pattern and the correct progression path, and I groaned and I resorted on reading walkthrough. If you haven't got this game and interested on this game, then it's a no brainer, this game is very recommended (and maybe play it on safe difficulty to avoid frustation). If you liked this game, don't forget that there's supersecret file.
