Absolute classic!

You cannot go wrong with SOF1, such a perfect shooter that sums up the best of the 2000s shooter era. Download SOF Plus and you're gonna have the best time with this gem :D

An amazing FPS finally comes to GOG!

My dad owned this as a kid and I never really got to play it but years later as a 14-year-old in 2015 I finally got to play it and it was amazing. I yearned for it to be on GOG for quite a while and after all my wishing, it finally came true! It's an amazing FPS with some (for the time) neat dismemberment and is, in general, a great game. I've beaten it twice and every time I play there's always something cool to still find! If only we could have No One Lives Forever 1 and 2 next, but for now, we have this great game!

Still fun but doesn't age well!

This game is still very fun and being able to shoot of limbs is still very entertaining but I feel that the story is very weak and that it hasn’t aged well. However, I still think it’s fun, and it’s easy to play (my kind of FPS) and a lot of nostalgia!

Nostalgia and good for what it is

It's like a 90's action movie with over-the-top violence. It may be the first FPS (at least that I can remember) having active dismemberment. All the guns sound heavy and devastating, which is great. The story is kind of typical 90's fare and doesn't get in the way too much while playing. While the shooting is fun, there are a couple of problems that hold this game back (I'm using the SOFPlus patch, so not sure if these criticisms will hold true without it). There is a propensity for the doors to sometimes either get you stuck, forcing a restart, or turning you around a random percentage; usually it was about 180°, which was perfect for enemies to either kill me or remove a large chunk of armor/health. It could just be the difficulty that I chose, but there were also a number of times that enemies would just spawn in right behind you as soon as you turn around. This only happened extensively in a couple of levels (Africa and Tokyo), but when they happened, they were incredibly annoying. That being said, this is an FPS classic and can still be enjoyed thoroughly despite the flaws. I'd also recommend staying away from the medium difficulty and going for something harder. The only time I was inspired to finish this game was when I played on the tougher difficulties.
