True to the Tabletop

Wizards of the Coast granted Tactical Adventures a license to use the Dungeons and Dragons SRD 5.1 Ruleset, further anchoring our will to make the most faithful video game adaptation with the Tabletop Ruleset and craft the game you are hoping for!

Solasta: Crown of the Magister brings back the thrill, tactics, and deep storytelling of tabletop games. As you play, you'll feel yourself reaching for your dice and miniatures. It's time to dive into the world of Solasta. Roll for initiative!

Free Content Update with the release of Lost Valley

  • Online Multiplayer Co-op is now available: Compatible with both official CotM & Lost Valley campaigns, Primal Calling content as well as Custom Campaigns made with the Dungeon Maker!
  • Spellcasting Chants: Your spellcasters are no longer mute when casting spells, and we’ve added an additional spellcasting animation to boot! (you can turn off chants in the option menu)
  • Crafting Feats: Tired of having to pick specific background in order to craft potions and magic items? We’ve added two feats to solve that problem!
  • Surprise System Overhaul: Now more faithful to the tabletop rules with individual perception checks for each surprised enemy, making fights more even!
  • New Quest, Dialog & Custom Loot Table Systems added to the Dungeon Maker, helping creators to make even better and Custom Campaigns!

Created and written by lifelong fans of Pen & Paper RPGs, comes Solasta: Crown of the Magister.

Bring the authentic Tabletop gaming experience to your PC!

Roll for initiative, take attacks of opportunity, manage player location and the verticality of the battle field. Set yourself up for the finishing strike and possibly roll a natural 20 at that key moment of battle.

In Solasta, you take control of four heroes, each with unique skills that complement one another. Every hero expresses themselves in the adventure, making each action and dialog choice a dynamic part to the story. Players will create their heroes just as they would in a pen-and-paper game by choosing their race, class, personality and rolling for their stats.

You make the choices, dice decide your destiny.

Key Features:

  • An Epic Team Adventure
Discover the shattered world of Solasta: explore ruins and dungeons for legendary treasures, learn the truth of an age-old cataclysm - and stop it from happening again.

Create your very own party of adventurers with our Character Creation Tool in the classic tabletop RPG tradition. Breathe life into your heroes, and see their personalities reflected in their dialogue. Tailor your squad to your preferred strategy and maximize your party's abilities. The choice is yours.

  • Discover a Mysterious & Dynamic World
Delve into long forgotten dungeons to unearth ancient artifacts, but stay watchful of light and darkness: many dangers hide in the dark, but a light can attract monsters. Some enemies have darkvision, some may flee from your torch... Successful adventurers will learn to use it to their advantage.

Fight monsters in squad-level, turn-based, tactical combat. Solasta's dynamic environment offers some interesting tactical options. Bridges can collapse, leaving enemies stranded and vulnerable. Walls and columns can be pushed over - on top of your foes, if you do it right. The world is your playground.

  • Prepare to Think in Three Dimensions
The dungeons in Solasta are more than flat game-boards. Climb, jump, or fly around obstacles. Evade or surprise foes from above or below. Push them into chasms or drop things on their heads. Position yourself on high grounds to start the fight with an advantage.

Size also matters. Escape through narrow passages where bigger enemies won't fit and crawl through tunnels to find secret areas. Take advantage of the environment to find cover suited to your own size. Watch out, though - the monsters are also thinking vertically.

  • Dungeon Maker
In Solasta, the adventure does not stop after the campaign is over. Unleash your creativity and craft your own dungeons to play and share with friends with the snap of a finger using the in-game Dungeon Maker! From the room layout, monster composition and treasure the party will find – down to the decoration and lighting of each room or the music track playing – everything is decided by you.

Note that the Dungeon Maker is a work in progress and will keep being improved as time goes by, so look forward to more Dungeon Maker features in the future!

Solasta Free Content Update with the release of Primal Calling

To celebrate the release of the Primal Calling DLC, we're releasing a free content update for all our players - including a much anticipated higher level cap!

  • Level cap increased from level 10 to level 12, unlocking new class features as well as level 6 spells
  • Scars and Facial Paints customization options in character creation
  • Tired of playing through the tutorial? You can now skip it!
  • Rebalanced (harder!) fight at the end of the campaign - prepare for a challenge!
  • New Town Exterior & Town Interior Environments for the Dungeon Maker
  • New Campaign Creator Feature, allowing custom dungeons to be bundled together into a campaign with custom monsters, custom NPCs & merchants and custom items!

Just like playing the tabletop version!

Just finished the Crown of the Magister adventure, and I really enjoied it! First of all, if you are looking for a sandbox campaign with a deep plot, a lot of lore dumping and NPCs with extravagant, grimdark or larger than life backgrounds, you won't find them here: Solasta is more like a "beer and pretzels adventure" with a good DM who does put emphasis on giving clear directions about how to proceed in the main quest, and players who just wanna have fun in exploring a world and roll some dice. Think of railroading, but in a good way: your party is composed of adventurers who enlist for a mission, then find themselves involved in something very big, and decide to stick together. This doesn't mean that the story is boring: it has its plot twists, some quite predictable, other less, and all in all I found it engaging. This game looks like a pumped-up, modernized version of the Eye of the Beholder series: you have places to go, stuff to do, and you have to bash some heads in order to do it. Combat is very fun, it sticks to the 5e rules and involves strategy. Seeing the dice actually rolling on screen gives the game a tabletop feel that I found really enjoable. Some criticise the "not-so-realistic" look or/and the voice acting of the characters, still I wasn't bothered by them: on the contrary, it was like watching at your miniatures come alive, and listening to your DM doing voices. Also, it made me appreciate all the efforts made by Tactical Adventures in creating this game. I agree with others that the endgame of Crown of the Magister feels rushed, but not so much to ruin the game experience overall. So, if you are looking for a 5e based game focused on tactical combat and an easy-going storytelling, Solasta is for you!

Fun and simple DnD 5e adventure

The game mechanics are very simple and explained cleary. The calculation is displayed using mouse over tooltip so that you know what is happening. More importantly, it is very fun to create a team of 4 and imagine what each one can do or have done in their life as well as their personality. Granted the dialogue can be somehow janky but it gives enough charm to the character. The graphics performance is somehow improved since launch but it still performs badly in the few areas.

Good D&D C-RPG and replaybality

Up to review, beaten crown of the magister, almost 50% of Lost Valley. So we have here a C-RPG, some classes with interesting subbclasses. (some are exclusive to Solasta) When you begin an adventure you have to create 4 characters like it was in the temple of elemental evil. I like that. Downside: you have to stick to the party you start with at the beginning, there is no swapping a party member, so choose wisely. Also, think well while leveling up, as there is no respec option. Regarding attribute builds, you have points, random or allocated, so it is interesting. Other huge good point is the integrated level editor where we can spend some time or take a look at the existing player made content (either in steam workshop or mod.io) The game can be modded "unfinished business" seems recommeded Disadvantages/ to be improved: when at high level (9+), the UI is not adapted when you play a full caster and have 2 rows of spells (spells of level 4+). There are some spells icons that overlap with a spell of a lower level, and some are not accessible. Contrary to Baldur's Gate 3, the spellcasters can only swapp their learnt/active spells while resting (long rest). On the other hand, you are not limited for the short rests so you can recover some abilties more often. Another difference between solasta and BG3 is verticallity: we have spider walk spell, and you can walk on the walls, and you can have your mage flying above the ground and shooting fireballs while being out of melee reach. (spells do not have areas, but volumes... So fireball is a sphere. Compared to baldur's gate3 It seems that Solasta is a more combat focused game. So if you like C-RPGs in general and don't mind playing in english (for the majority and there are not many walls of text) I recommend

Amazing 5e DnD experience

Somehow the screenshots don't do the game any justice. This game is like the B-Movie counterpart to Baldur's Gate 3. The dialogues are corny and hilarious, the battle system is top-notch and it's an absolute blast to play. This might be one of my favourite CRPGs ever made so far.

Game is still unfinished

Maybe in a few years this game will be fully playable, for now I've done a few runs. First - bugs with unfinishable quests. Second - Seriously irritated by game mechanics, attunement system got me angry Third - will wait a few months at least for the devs to finish finishing the game. The good: 1. DnD feel 2. Stats and such 3. Turn based combat that's somewhat interesting The bad: 1. Missing item text descriptions. 2. Unfinished gameplay systems (attunement is horrible for example) - TL;DR this game is not finished and I doubt that it ever will be, sadly :( 3. Unclear mechanics, some puzzles require googling to figure out :( 4. Janky gameplay with fps drops 5. The writing and overall story 6. Gameplay bugs carried over from beta.
