Slipstream 5000

I enjoyed playing it for the first time this year. Lots of fun, although even the hard campaign is done quickly. Music sounds much better with an external Roland MT32 emulator.

Yeah, yeah. I'm forgiving the graphics and all because it's dated. The sort of thing you usually have to do when making a review of they typical game here on GOG, but that said, I just don't think much of it, even at $2.39 price. There is but a scant few upgrade parts you can buy. Might as well not even have an upgrade option in this game, that being the case. Then there is the racing itself. All the AI drivers always go faster than you do, no matter how hard you have your peddle to the metal. The only way to get ahead is to shoot them with a weapon, and since you only can target the first 2, maybe 3 racers directly ahead of you, good luck in getting in any position higher than 6th place. I think I actually got in 5th place once, but still finished the race in 9th place. Configuring the controls for gamepad / joystick can be done, but it isn't clear cut if you are actually changing the steering or not or even calibrating your device, because you don't see the changes being made on the screen. You just have to press the right buttons and controls and then see if they stick. One reviewer said they got this game on a magazine cd. That's about all it's worth. As a freebie on a magazine CD.

This game is really fun, but the best thing about it is: it came with my 3D/shutter glasses back in the 90ies! High speed 3D racing is awesome!

I loved the game back in the day and I bought the GOG version only a few minutes ago. This time around dosbox crashes just after the Gremlin Interactive logo so I can't play the Bloody thing.

Uninstalled within 5 minutes. Waste of $2.39
