Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

A video game that is very unique. It's GTA but in China and this creates a brilliant atmosphere and some incredibly funny background dialogue. The game is centered on Kung Fu, and it is done very well. An interesting variety of enemies, that force you to use different approaches to combat. The story initially, is well written and characters are memorable so much so, that you begin to feel love/hatred for them. However, after the halfway point in the arc, the story goes out of the window, characters are brought in and out randomly and things become fantastical. The driving mechanics are really enjoyable. A truck feels slow, scooters are simple, race bikes and race cars are fast , and turn sharply which makes maintaining speed possible. In conclusion, a very fun game in a different cultural environment. It stays fun for the most part, until the end where the fighting mechanics being to show their repetitiveness and the story becomes wacky. However, compared to most of the games nowadays, this 13yr old game is a step up in quality.

I am 9 hours into the game and in my opinion, I rate this game a solid 5/5. It has a pretty good story, fun gameplay, amazing combat mechanics, an interactive world. The game has a good and detailed setting which takes place in Hongkong. The game is fast paced which is a good thing and I have hardly faced any issues in starting or playing the game. I have heard many people facing issues when it comes to saving your progress in the game, To be honest for me, I Just go to the apartment and head to bed, and it will save your progress for you. But I have tuned off my cloud sync.

It's nice to play it again, to replay it, to see the story. Oh, the good old games

I wish that I have taken the game out of my backlog way sooner. From the first mission to the last one I was immersed into the world of the game to a level that even newer games lack. For a 13 year old game it feels like the graphics did not age at all. The details and npcs interactions are hilarious. Everyone should experience the game imo. It is an old classic that holds up beautifully.

Alright, so I didn’t know what the hell to do tonight. Witcher’s on standby, Cyberpunk 2077 mods nearly crashed my whole setup, OBS threw a tantrum... you know the drill. Then I thought, sod it – let’s have a little Harvey Wallbanger (vodka, OJ, Galliano – don’t knock it till you try it). Mood improved instantly. Went browsing GOG for something easy, nostalgic, with a bit of punch but not too heavy. Boom – Sleeping Dogs. What a bloody gem. Blast from the past, smooth like my cocktail, story's just the right mix of grit and cinematic flair. Feels like playing a John Woo flick with a hint of GTA, but in Hong Kong and with way more style. Combat? Crunchy and satisfying. Driving? Chaotic fun. And the story? Surprisingly engaging. Look, maybe you’re stuck between a movie, a game, or just scrolling aimlessly – this’ll sort you out. No regrets, just vibes. Highly recommended if you want to lose yourself in a city that actually feels alive. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some Triads to deal with... or cops.
