So many better choices

This game was sold to me based on high user reviews and a solid critic score. However, it's not very good. If you have never played strong TBS tactical combat games, the cute graphics and aesthetic might appeal, but the core gameplay isn't very well done. The interface was not heavily adjusted for the PC port from the original mobile version, so it is very obvious when you're moving units it was designed for a touch screen interface. You have redundant need for clicking that strongly reduces the desire for 'just one more turn' mentality. In essence, you get tired playing based on the interface. The story is just fine, as is the humour, but the battle set ups are almost completely dictated for you. Time after time you'll find you need to use arbitrary strategies to progress, as opposed to figuring out your own unique methods for solving a battle. This game is not terrible. It's not even bad.... it's just not very good, and slightly below average for the TBS genre. Pick up something else.

It's okay

It's okay. The interface is a little annoying like any game that's also on mobile. The jokes are funny and the graphics are fun. The only problem I had was the AI was too easy to figure out so I got bored. Each of the levels I played had a solution that let you win so it feels more like a puzzle game. If you're looking for a light puzzle game with nice graphics and a some funny jokes it's worth trying out.

Excellent oddball turn based game.

I originally got this game on the Windows Store/Xbox and so I'm reviewing that edition. It's a light hearted turn based game with a good sense of humor and never takes itself too seriously. I find the way it very lightly plays around with Japanese mythology and history is interesting. The core mechanic is clever and compelling and the action, while not the deepest strategy game around, has enough meat to it to keep you busy. The graphics aren't mind blowing (it feels like this could have been made 10 years ago with flash) but the I don't find that particularly important since the art direction is top notch and the music is pretty good as well. And it's not exactly priced to break the bank either so it's highly recommended, especially on sale. Minor gripes are the UI is kind of bad and the control scheme is clearly designed for touch interfaces. Having played it on a Surface Pro a long time ago this was an issue there as it is here. It's a product of doing turn based but without a grid to speak of. It makes it original but frustrating at the same time.

No online play in this version

This is a great game in itself, but since the online component doesn't work on the GOG version, it's best to buy it on a platform that supports it. After finishing the funny campaign, the best part of the game is playing it online, especially with friends. This game is the best of its kind (Fire Emblem styled turn-based strategy) and polished to cartoony perfection. There are many different strategies involved which makes PvP matches a delight. Not that the AI is bad, but that's not too much fun. While there is a quirky story to support the battles against the AI, it's a ton of fun. Yet once that is over, this version does not suffice.

Does not run on Mac on Montery 12.3.1

It is nice game when it works. There was not any issue to run on 12.0. Now, when I try to start it closes by itself and it is not able to run. All security setting were made correctly (full disk access etc...). Unfortunately waste of money.
