This is a great game, but I prefer other simulation games, like Openttd, which I know is a completely different genre of game (transportation vs city-building). Regardless, I found this game unintuitive and confusing in its UI and gameplay elements. I have recently been playing Cities Skylines as well, so that may have altered my perception of this in a more negative light, as that is a more recent game with better graphical fidelity. Otherwise, the game is running fine (barring the lack of widescreen support, you have to manually add that in). Ultimately, I just couldn't get into the game well enough to pique my interest, but don't let this deter you if you are really into complex, city-building simulation games.
SimCity 4 was an improvement on graphics only, not gameplay. SimCity 3000 is the version that should be offered on this site. SimCity 4 has too much micromanagement. It plays just like previous versions but lacks the fun factor. Your cities in SimCity 4 never seem to be able to grow much before you run out of money and issues demanding your attention become a distraction rather than a managable problem. SimCity 3000 was fun to play and you could actually grow your city to an impressive level unlike this game. Please, GOG, release the FUN version of SimCity...SimCity 3000!
I love the Sim City saga, but this particular title is pretty bad. Maps are incredibly small, so don't expect to run a big/complex city. A waste of money.
