SimCity™ 3000 Unlimited

I can't get Sim City 3000 to even launch on my system. It instantly minimises to the task bar, and when I try and restore it, I get a black screen and some sound for a second and then it minimises again. I can't even close the program normally and have to kill it from Task Manager. Apparently Sim City 3000 has problems with higher resolutions, but I thought the whole point of buying things on GOG was that they work on modern systems? I'd have hoped GOG would have tested the game with a monitor released in the last 20 years, but obviously not.

First off: This game is like a polished version of SimCity 2000. Simcity 3000's look and feel is very charming and the music is amazing. The game is simply an overall good city builder game and I have spent countless hours in my teenage years playing it. Second: Simcity 4000 disappointed me in many ways: Having a city split up by multiple regions in different years that needed to be saved and loaded when changing region made the game feel annoying and very incoherent. The autozoning of roads-layout and zones made the game feel like a dumb-downed fastfood version of a city builder game. -->Therefore I will very much recommend Simcity 3000 compared to the other games in the series. Sadly Simcity 3000 got also some downsides: - Making farms is very much a leftover afterthought by the developers: It involves zoning large light industrial zones that will develop into farms as long as there's no pollution. The problem is that the farms easily turns into ugly industry with the slightest pollution, it's really annoying knowing you have the potential to make farms but that they won't work (why not separate farming zoning? I'm also looking at you Cities: Skylines). - Little variety in buildings. It also really annoyed me that it is not possibly to add in more buildings, the building architect add on program only replaces buildings. - Abandoned buildings looks much uglier than necessary. It's like brown shits dotted across the city. Abandoned buildings also doesn't at look like the original building and that just degrades the overall look and feeling of the city. My final thoughts: If you want a good city builder game AND your computer can handle it then I will suggest getting Cities: Skylines. Cities: Skylines surpasses every other city builder game in most ways by miles. - But If your computer is slow and/or you want some nostalgia, then this is the game for you.

...I would like to play the game in german. Unfortunately the language changer doesn't work. I changed to german, but the game requires the disk if I start. How can I solve the problem?

This is by far one of the most fun games to play of the SimCity series on PC! It is not serious at all, characters are cartoonish and it is very laid back.
