SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

SimCity 2000 is one of my favorite Simcity 2000 games and GOG does a pretty fine job of getting this to work on newer versions of Windows. So first of, this is the DOS version and many people complain about this decision. I don't have a huge problem with this but I'd still like to see another version. Either way, you can easily get this for free if you care enough for a google search. More specifically, this is the special collection which feautures WACKY AND COOL AND RAD-UH-HUHUHHH interviews with Will Wright, mastermind genius creator of Simcity, Spore, Sims and also feautures the Urban Renewal Kit, it also feautures those extra scenarios that everybody forgot existed so kudos for that but not really cause this does not actually matter since thats the game, not the way GOG handles it. I have experienced a fair amount of sound errors and some lag in the intro of the game in both of my gaming pcs. I mean it doesn't really bother me that much but when I start the game I want the impression I'm playing a classic not some game that lags on the intro. And whats up with the sound? Its definitely not like I remember it... Anyway, thats it. It also comes with a manual which is a small bonus. I'll give the game a 9/10. Creating a Simulation game is NOT EASY. It requires a lot of time and effort and doing this on an old system is outstanding, thankfully this all worked out thanks to Mr Wright who is a genius. .. and I deeply regret it. Simcity 2000 special edition is not only a truly enjoyable city builder but also an elegant flow of pixels, beautiful to watch and a gameplay somewhat simple when you figured it out how the system works. As a managerial simulation, it works well and it's not overly complicated ( although at the start you'll be probably overwhelmed by its interface, at least if you didn't play like this before) but it has enough depth to have a good replay value. However, if you read the reviews before mine, you'll know that this is the Dos-box version (Which may influence my judgement, since I'm a big fan of the old system) and it may share some problem common to the games of the Dos ( some clunky controls and some features are missing). Still, I truly recommend this game, even if it's my first Simcity I've ever played : Catchy tunes ( although a little repetitive), astonishing visuals when you expand your city and a solid gameplay that brings you to a lowly suburb to an exodus to the stars.

NOT SPECIAL EDITION! Simcity2000 is great, this dosbox version works. But this is not the Win95 Special Edition. Period.

The game mod designers to this edition chose the best engine (DOS Box) as it runs beautifully. The main reason I play DOS version on my Windows 10 machine over Win version is the fact that when you build 300 Launch Arcologies, late game, they'll launch into space! I always absolutely loved Sim City 2000. I was so stoked to play the special edition again, and waste away stuck in the past. Tragically, this is the old DOS version. Terrible resolution, no custom tile sets... just bad.
