SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

This takes me way back. I remember playing this game on my Macintosh LC III. No idea what I was doing. I always exploited a certain bug (something about the Bond rate and cheats gave me ungodly amounts of cash) but I kept trying to play. Eventually, I created a city that spanned the whole map. I must have destroyed that city at least a dozen times before I lost the file somehow. Just a few months ago I bought Sim City 4, and I remember Sim City 2000 being much more difficult and fun. The disasters had the potential to be far more devastating in 2000 (Rioters could start fires, and fires would rarely go out, but instead usually burn the city to cinders) I recently picked up this game via DOSBox only to learn that the version I had grown up with was SE, and that the music for the DOS version was far, far worse. I could barely stand it. I also could not find a working version of SE, until now. This is an excellent addition to the GOG catalog.

I couldn't be happier to see this game on GOG.com. I spent hours and hours playing Sim City 2000 when I was younger. It's a great game, and it still holds up today. It's well worth the $5.99, so if you've never played Sim City 2000 before do yourself a favor and buy it. You won't regret it.

This was the first PC game that I ever bought and it is still my best buy. Love the game and it truly has inspired others. One thing is certain, it wont let you down!

I played the Original Sim City, but it wasn't nearly as good as SC2.. This is the Old School Dos version So there isn't many cheats for it "torg" without the quotes.. but eventually you'll get all the rewards anyways so no need to cheat for them.. this Money cheat is just nice, I gave myself $15 mill.. That is what a real city uses in a year not $20k.. The whole game plays just as it did 20 years ago.. I was 11 when it came out.. Hard to believe next year will bring a TRUE sequel to the series.. Sim City Societies was a REAL BAD JOKE. I can't wait for SIM CITY in 2013.. They are axing the 5.. dunno why.. Anyways, if your a TRUE Maxis FAN.. Buy this game TODAY... Don't think about it.. DO IT..

I played this on a computer with a 386 *SX*, 16 colour video driver and no sound and still loved it. It's a great thing to have DRM-free for when/if new Sim City's servers go down!
