Once you get to the big reveal, the story is really simple and everything is spelled out. There's a very important difference between SHf protagonist versus other SH games. I can't say much more than that without spoilers. That's what makes this hard to recommend. If you're on the fence, I'd say avoid spoilers if you can (because that'll ruin any tension in the game), and wait for it to hit $40 so the weak story doesn't feel like you wasted your money.
The biggest change from previous games (that I can mention without spoilers) are the environments. If you remove the monsters in SHf, all the locations are pretty nice. In past games, removing the monsters leaves the gloomy locations that you still want to escape. That, and the focus on over the top combat makes SHf feel more like a Resident Evil game. Which isn't bad, but if you want more classic SH, you'll be disappointed around the half way point when SHf turns full combat.
PRO:
Grafics in GIF and Previews are great. Its not the Ultimate realistic skin, it save his "Comic/Animee" Character. Also the change of the Location to Japanese Area is a new and good move.
Big Pro is the nature and the housings who was build with a lot of love, Fun and time to create a nearly immersive realistic Szene. Respect, good job.
CONTRA:
At some small Points the Story lacks but dont kill the Storyline. The Prize of nearly 80 Euros is a way to much and the reason I never will buy it (only Streamer-key-Test/YT-TV). Maybe a realistic 30 Euro plus/minus will fit... - The time will show us how deep they need to go to sell it to a broad mass of Gamers.
For my Opinion the Story is a bit short. with a normal Playtime between 20-35 Hours (sure can done faster or much longer - depents on your playstyle). I wish there will be follow maybe a DLC or Update to a min. 80 Hours Story :P
Fazit:
A good playable Game with a good graphic (not realistic genre) also a logical storyline and Effects. Only the Prize at 80 Euros is in my opinion much to high. Sorry, but I will wait some month/years, till it reach a payable prize for 20-30 Hours fun once...
The game doesn't take place in Silent Hill, doesn't mention Silent Hill, doesn't mention or involve The Order, and has nothing to do with any of the original stories or characters. The gameplay is more similar to Dark Souls than it is to any other game in this series.
This is a "Silent Hill" game for people who don't play Silent Hill.
