Great Game Marred by Random Crashes
The game crashes every 20-30 minutes, so as long as you're willing to play it in small chunks where racing to a save point before the game crashes becomes part of the excitement, it's great. Everything will seem to be going well; there's no audio, visual, or gameplay glitches that precede these crashes. You'll just be chugging along and the game will just freeze for a few seconds and then shut itself down without any warning whatsoever, forcing you to repeat whatever difficult combat or puzzle segments you cleared but didn't get to save. Really sucks the fun out of the game. It's a shame because there's clearly an amazing game here, but the experience of playing it is horribly tarnished by these weird crashes. This is apparently a fairly well-known issue according to subreddits and forums, but still has no reliable fix that I've been able to find. Hopefully they'll figure it out and patch it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Also, the same ole PC glitch where some of the hauntings are unavailable is still present in this version. There is a fan patch that apparently fixes this, but I haven't tried it myself yet. If I could get the game to stay on for more than a few minutes at a time, I might apply the fan patch and see how it goes, but until then, I'll be sticking to my trusty ps2 version.
