Janky and obtuse, yet perfect,

This is such a classic survival horror game of its time: janky awkward controls, weird combat system, stilted dialogue, occasionaly obscure puzzles....and yet, I love it. It oozes with ATMOSPHERE. And the first part of the game is cozy since the apartment heals your health for free. I love the fact that this game is also a voyeur simulator. Looking out into the street and seeing the hustle and bustle of the city or next door and feeling like a creepy peeping tom is just such a vibe. Yes, the ghosts are annoying and the whole game is just sort of janky, but I just love the world as a whole. I'd recommend this to people who already enjoy 90s/early 2000s survival horror. This game is polarizing, but it was the last Silent Hill game by Team Silent which makes it special even if it's the black sheep of the original 4 games. Thank you so much GOG for your awesome game presevation and VERY reasonable prices! This was my first purchase from you guys but it will not be my last.

The restoration on this is simply excepcional, been able to play at 4k without having to change settings or download files is excellent.

Not perfect, but still great

It doesn't hold up to the original Silent Hill trilogy, mainly due to the fact that the game initially wasn't planned to be a Silent Hill title. Still, it's a good example of Japanese psychological horror. The inexplicable holes in the walls are reminiscent of Junji Ito. The claustrophobic first person segments in the apartment are creepy, as are the accompanying "window peering" segments in which Henry spies on his neighbors. And although the combat can be frustrating, the visuals can be truly phantasmagorical. So glad to finally have a PC version DRM free.

So happy this is finally here

This game is so good, I actually think the story is better than even Silent Hill 2's it's not as clever, but it's more engaging, the main issues this game has is the terrible inventory system and the incredibly irritating escort in the second half of the game, otherwise while not my favorite( that honor goes to Silent Hill 2) it's easily my second favorite in the whole franchise although all of the first 4 Silent Hill games are all worth playing through, and it's a pretty good port minus controlling the camera in first person with just the right analog stick which is awkward but not like it's not a dealbreaker or anything. Now if Konami can bring over Silent Hill 2 and 3 they could almost be forgiven for the HD Collection fiasco so yeah Konami get on that and take my money
