THESE WALLS CAN’T FALL

Set in the medieval world of Gloria Victis, Siege Survival: Gloria Victis sees your country invaded and your city under brutal siege.

A small group of civilians are trapped in the only remaining stronghold and are the last source of hope for the defending troops hanging on for dear life. You might not be fighting the invaders yourself, but the fate of the city lies in your hands.

Support the last soldiers standing against overwhelming enemy forces and hold out until reinforcements arrive. Build your camp, manage resources, craft supplies during the day and scour the fallen city for resources and new civilian recruits at night.

SURVIVE THE SIEGE

Defending what’s left of your city are a few tired troops in dire need of arrows, weapons and armour; along with treatment for the wounded. You need to keep this last bastion of defenders supplied and supported in every way possible ahead of their battles every few days; otherwise, the enemy will eventually storm the keep. Not only that, but you also need to protect your civilians and your camp, as you are assaulted by waves of flaming arrows and giant boulders.

MANAGE RESOURCES & CRAFT SUPPLIES

You need better weapons, a roof over your head, hot food and all the other trappings that just existing entail; and the only way you’ll get these is if you and your team craft them. But resources are limited and you'll need to sustain both soldiers and civilians, so find ways to preserve food, develop your infrastructure and use your supplies more efficiently.

SCAVENGE THE FALLEN CITY

Venturing out from the safety of your keep, you have to explore the ransacked city at night to collect precious resources and help the surviving citizens – or exploit them. But be careful, enemy patrols keep watching the streets; you must be smart to remain unseen... and alive. Unlock routes to other districts, enlist new civilian recruits and make it back before dawn so as not to be caught.

YOUR BACK AGAINST THE WALL

Help is coming, but it’s weeks away. And in a siege like this, one dilemma can quickly spiral into another and very soon you will face tough moral choices. The fate of your companions - and that of the city - is in your hands alone. There will be hunger, wounds, disease and despair, but also growing tensions between the civilians and defenders. Sustain your troops or keep your civilians alive? Only you can decide.

A nice medieval-themed resource manager!

It's essentially a resource management boardgame, where you can place your playing-pieces onto workstations to meet the various requirements of the scenario. In detail, the game is made of two halves. One half is the resource-management inside the castle. You have fixed resource-drains and requirements like the defending forces, your character's needs like food and water and your animal's needs. You meet them by creating a basic economy that is maintained through various workstations, which you have to build. Almost every workstation can be upgraded to make the related work-processes more efficient or to unlock new recipes, while some need to be operated by your characters and other work on a passiv timer-base. You don't actually play out the defense of the castle, but you are able to impact it by expending additional resources in the later half of the game. The economy itself is, to be honest, a bit basic and it's not hard to see a almost always very likely optimal buildorder and production-priority, at least on the standard difficulty. Don't expect to create very complex production chains, is what I'm saying. BUT, it fits with the theme. Overall that part is enjoyable. You never feel screwed by RNG and you are able to recover from mistakes. The second part is a also rather basic stealth-game, where you pick a character to sneak through the looted city, which is patroled by guards, You do this to scavange for resources, which you need to run your economy on, so scavanging is a priority. There is a combat system and the city is filled with encounters and sort of "miniquests" where you need to find items to open up shortcuts. It's rudimentary but fun. As a way to allow for replayability, you can adjust everything about the main-story scenario in NG+ and, as a treat, there is an editor added to the game, which from a cursory glance allows for creating everything from scratch, from map to city, castle and encouters. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Enjoyable issues stealth side of game.

Essentially 2 game types. during the night you scavenge for supply’s in a stealth game, during the day you build/upgrade/feed the castle in a RTS style minigame. Visually quite nice looking and branching storyline ads some replay options. There are extra game modes. standard, simplified day mode focusing on night-time stealth and simplified night-time more resources less guards, focusing more on the day. This was something I wish I had known as I struggled on standard finding enough supplies having made some bad choices early on. I see 2 issues with gameplay. 1 If you get detected in stealth game you might as well reload but you only get a save at the start of each day so have to repeat the 1st mini game to have another go at night. Guards always patrol the same path. And supplies always sporn in the same place so each night sort of gets a perfect run.

Wonderful survival medieval game

I was searching for a Banished like game and I found this game. Not quite the same thing, but I totally recommend it! I bought it with a bit of skepticism, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It has a nice accompanying story, it contains 2 game mechanics in one - the scavenging and exploring by night and the base building / resource management by day. The game is in my opinion very well polished for what seems to be an indie title. The game aspects are well balanced and I got hooked in this wonderful siege survival / scarce resource management atmosphere.

Medieval version of "this war of mine" If you enjoy both of those things, this is certainly the game for you, It does not bring the heavyness or bleakness of TWOM but similar in tone.

Classy and fun

During the day you build and organise your city resources and at night you scavenge the streets. The daytime city build could use a clearer flow chart on what are the buildings and what it costs to make and what they produce. They have it in a list form; from which my feeble brain couldn't bring it all together. At night, I struggled with camera controls early on in scavenging, but that just made it even more challenging and atmospheric. I like the way you can easily get disorientated and lose your way in the dark alleys. Five stars because it was challenging. It didn't waste my time and it was tons of fun. Great atmospherics and a really nice story element. I loved the ending how they retold all the critical events including the shameful and unscrupulous actions I'd chosen to save the castle. :{ I've only played the first scenario and looking forward to indulging more in the wider gamer and editor available. I had to write a review as I literally couldn't stop playing this once I worked out what I was doing.
