i like it!
I have not played the first Sheltered, so i cannot compare. On its own i think it's worthwhile, even good. it (speaking for v1.0.10 here, as 1.0.14 i have put off yet and intend to wait for the next patch) gets a 4/5 from me, since yes it still needs some work especially when it comes to fine-tuning the faction rewards (e.g. no faction gain from trading yet, easy to loose rep and hard to gain initially until you have done some jobs to get the bonus-rep from jobs. So choose your initial jobs carefully! The gameplay itself is rather repetitive, which in my experience with other games like Mr. Prepper and 7D2D is to be expected and not TOO bad, again in my eyes. Even though you CAN, i do not think this game is "focused on taking lands". Sure, you can take over other faction's outposts and it's a (semi-)viable way to play, but only one of the possible and by NO MEANS necessary! I for one have not taken over a single outpost yet - if i wanted to eliminate other factions, i COULD walk into their HQ's at any time and fight them for all their territories at once. However, i prefer to trade with them instead which i find much more to the point - and helpful, to me at least, in the long run. The jobs you can do (and need to do for the faction-reputation) area nice touch in my eyes - only the rewards, especially initially are a bit off as it is easy to ruin your rep with one faction if you are not careful. But even if you do, it's not ALL down the drains, as the goals list "eliminate or ally with faction". I just prefer to trade with them... The repuation rewards which in my eyes need some attention yet (why does trading not even give a single plus?) make it harder i think, but not impossible nor it is really game-breaking, just unnecessarily annoying.. All in all though, i still enjoy playing it and do not regret having bought it!
