I actually quite enjoyed the game, but there is a problem that will never be fixed. Second stage of the game is really about food management and for select few players mama badger will not release food reliably. This mean that stage becomes really hard.
If you are lucky and don't get that bug (to be honest very few people get it) the game is refreshing and enjoyable. I would totally give it 5 stars if it worked for me and didn't know people are having trouble.
This game is brutal. No-win scenarios will happen, at it will feel bad.
Being a badger in general will feel good.
The graphics and style of the game however, are a bit to weird for my tastes. Way too brightly lit too. The game doesn't offer much in the way of variation either.
Being a badger, though, is pretty neat, so my two hours in this game didn't really feel wasted either. There are plenty of other games I'd rather be playing though, and as such I'd rate this one 3/5.
Shelter is a game that starts as a stylish badger survival sim in which you feed and protect your young, as you look for food and shelter and worry about various predators. The open forest is full of varied unique environments and fairly interactive.
The main reason I am rating this game so positively is that I adored the soundtrack. While having musical changes coordinate with gameplay is hardly anything new, I found it really effective in this game and it contributed greatly my enjoyment of Shelter. I am pretty hard to please when it comes to game music but I found this title right on.
The price is right for this and I can't wait to see what else this developer has to offer in the future. Badgers.
