Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut is a powder keg of high octane, hair-whipping, hip shaking action, now available on PC!
Guide “half-genie” Shantae through haunted wastes, burning deserts, enchanted forests, dripping caverns and deadly labyrinths. Discover magical attacks, brew zombie coffee, save golden babies, and master the art of belly-dancing to transform Shantae into more powerful creatures. Use your powers to foil the lady pirate Risky Boots and save Sequin Land from certain doom!
nice game but you can find one better.
pixeled game with lot talks, the enemies are too easy.
try this game if you really like platformer game with lot history talks.
Enemy placement in this game makes no sense. It's best to compare it to the original super mario, enemy placements in super mario make sense, they are placed where they are for a reason, to offer a challenge to overcome, to make the player think, to react to the situation. In Shantae, enemies are just there because it's a game and games need enemies right? So here's a bunch of them, no reason, no challenge, you just have to hit them to progress, or just ignore them and jump over them because that's faster.
Dealing damage is another problem, which cannot be done without losing momentum, even worse every enemy takes a minimum of 2 hits so you can't use tricks like jump+attack to progress faster. You can upgrade your attack but instead of dealing more damage you instead just attack faster. Which is another problem because the fully upgraded attack speed feels like the right speed for the game, the rest feels too slow and can get you into trouble when you have to dodge or react to enemies or other hazards.
Another problem with the game is its signature feature, the ability to transform into different animals and use their special powers to alter the way you play the game. This simply does not work well, you can only keep your animal form for 1 room and automatically change back if you use a door. So if you want to play as a monkey all game you would have to transform every 10 seconds or so, it gets old very quickly and you just end up staying Shantae for everything that does not require an animal form to progress.
The bosses are all super easy, you use the same tactic every time. You use a special item that helps you deal damage and you face fuck the boss as fast as possible, that's all, works every time. It also helps that you can have a obscene amount of health restore items on you at all times.
This is not a bad game for children but offers nothing besides its charm for more experienced players.
Plus you have to unlock the extra mode, which is bullshit.
