There is a lot of value in this new Ultimate Edition that not only adds 2 story expansions, it also improves the replay value of the game by introducing 3 different looking costumes adding new abilities for Shantae.

As a whole, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition is literally the complete package for fans of the series and genre enthusiasts. It's not the best platformer around, but it is a fun journey, especially with the additional DLC characters. I wish the developer would've embraced the Metroidvania aspects more, gotten more creative with some platforming segments, and included a few more environments for the DLC, but there is not much else I can hold against this truly fun platformer.

Worse Shantae game.

What the hell happened to Shantae!? Shantae has always been a metroidvania game but now it is a Mario like game? This game feels like a spinoff. The story is a messy. Each chapter does not tie into each other and the main plot does not kick in until the last level. It does not even feel like a continuation from Pirate's Curse. The graphics while very pretty looking has a weird chibi art style. Shantae instead of looking like a 16 year-old she looks like an 8 year-old with breast. The worst part are the DLCs. All the DLCs are just you playing the same levels from the main game but with either different characters or costumes. The only redeemable aspect of this game is the music. Avoid this and just play Pirate's Curse.
