Description
The year is 2054. Magic has returned to the world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Technology merges with flesh and consciousness. Elves, trolls, orks and dwarves walk among us, while ruthless corporations bleed the world dry. You are a shadowrunner - a mercenary living on the fringes of society, in the shadows of massive corporate arcologies, surviving day-by-day on skill and instinct alone. When the powerful or the desperate need a job done, you get it done... by any means necessary.

In the urban sprawl of the Seattle metroplex, the search for a mysterious killer sets you on a trail that leads from the darkest slums to the city’s most powerful megacorps. You will need to tread carefully, enlist the aid of other runners, and master powerful forces of technology and magic in order to emerge from the shadows of Seattle unscathed.

The unique cyberpunk-meets-fantasy world of Shadowrun has gained a huge cult following since its creation nearly 25 years ago. Now, creator Jordan Weisman returns to the world of Shadowrun, modernizing this classic game setting as a single player, turn-based tactical RPG.
  • Powerful Content Creation: With the Shadowrun Returns Editor, everyone is empowered to create and share their own stories and campaigns with the Shadowrun community. You can even explore the entire Shadowrun Returns Seattle campaign in the Editor directly - see how it was built and borrow as much as you need to jump-start your own creations! No advanced coding or art skills are required to create content using the SRR Editor.
  • Gripping Tactical Combat: When you’re running the shadows, every turn matters. Choose your actions wisely - move to better cover, charge into melee, or lob a fireball into a crowd of enemies. With the variety of weapons and spells at your disposal, every turn is filled with meaningful choices. A successful run requires commanding a team of runners with the right balance of combat, tech, and magical abilities.
  • Skill-Based Character Progression: Choose a starting character archetype and build from there! Street Samurai and Physical Adepts use advanced combat skills to dominate the battlefield, Shamans and Mages summon powerful allies and cast deadly spells, while Riggers and Deckers provide critical technological support, projecting their consciousness directly into drones and computer systems. Shadowrun Returns’ classless skill system allows you to grow your character in any direction you choose. Want to start summoning spirits as an ork Shaman and evolve into a cybered-up weapon specialist? Do it!
  • Engaging 2D/3D Art Style: Shadowrun Returns mixes dynamic 3D characters and lighting with a vibrant, hand-painted environment. Illustrated character portraits bring every conversation to life. Explore a world filled with detail, from the slums of the Redmond Barrens to the extravagant offices of powerful corporations.

Shadowrun Returns

Wasn't expecting too much, especially with the numerous similiar titles out there. However it has a good cyberpunk vibe right from the off that draws you into the story, better than most. Nice effective graphics and world making you want to progress just that bit further. So far enjoying what i've played.

Great Series I Never Knew

Linear, isometric, turn-based combat RPG. Should be as annoying as hell but it's actually a lot of fun. This and its two sequels were free giveaways and well worth the price. Given the engine limitations, however, they are probably not worth more than a few pounds. Given the need to make balanced teams (maintain one in the later games) of four, you will always need 1-2) Shooters, 3) a 'decker' (hacker), 4) someone else. The story is interesting and, all-in-all, well told - well enough that I immediately played the other two (Shadowrun: Dragonfall and Shadowrun: Hong Kong).

Excellent turn based strategy game.

What a leap forward from the pixel graphics of the Sega Genesis Shadowrun game. Plenty of things to do, some really deep combat at times. Much better graphics & art, and mechanics. If you are a fan of the books, tabletop game, and such, you will like this. By the way, if you visit Nexus mods, you can get UGC standalone mods to add to this to have more scenarios & missions.

The SNES game was better

This feels like a minimun effort cellphone game, the graphics are ok, the music is minimal, but seviceable and the writing is what I expected from a tabletop license, all is well so far, but the mechanics, oh boy, is horrendous: The HUD is minimal and so damn small, even with the High res option enabled is very hard to read dialogue text You cannot position your characters prior to an encounter so you will always start with a disadvantage, specially because encounters sometimes start after conversations, with enemies taking the first turn, that's a free shotgun to the face The game estrongly encourages you to hire extra characters for your missions, but this is not only expensive, but a hired character only works for you for a single mission, ytou can't change their loadouts, you can't change their skills or level them up as you see fit Enemies are abundant and your resources are limited, I got to the ripper boss with zero medkits left, I got wiped out like a paper doll I created a decker for my first playthrough thinking it would be very cool to hack into turrets or robots to use against my enemies, but I was wrong Fortunately I received this as a gift because I cannot recommend it in good conscience, extremely disappointing, better off playing the old shadowrun in SNES

Good enough

It's not that shallow but not deep enough. It places itself in a place where really good ideas meet okay execution. It's story is straightforward and predictable. The atmosphere and the world are pretty cool, though. If you're after a tactical rpg and yet not in the mood for deep strategies, go for it. If you're after the next XCOM, skip it. It's okay.
