Fatal bug ruins it
Would be a great game if not for the known bug which freezes the game every time at the most interesting point.

Should still be in beta
I couldn't play Shadowrun Returns because it was broken. My friend bought Dragonfall for me because he said that they had fixed everything. I disagree. I tried really hard to like this game. I ignored as many problems as I possibly could. I put hours into this game, and had a lot of fun with the story. I just can't do it any more. Here are some of the problems I've encountered: - Cannot hack a computer despite bringing a decker with me for that purpose (most times you can tell your decker to hack it, but sometimes that option is missing) - Can purchase two hydraulic jacks, but activating one activates the other without even giving you the benefits of both - Cannot rotate the camera or easily tell the line of sight, so sometimes my sniper can't shoot someone or my mage can't cast a spell even though it looks like nothing is in the way - Loading a save takes at least 5 minutes, even though I have an SSD; wouldn't be too much of an issue, but I have to do it a lot (see next point) - On a stealth mission, there's no way to tell your teammates to stay put, so they lag behind you and get caught by patrolling guards; again, could be manageable if they at least kept up, but the following algorithm is broken, so sometimes they will stand still until you get to your destination before following - Stat bonuses from items don't help you pass challenges in dialogs; for example, the option requiring 5 Willpower was greyed out despite me having 5 Willpower from my cyberware and drugs After spending hours upon hours on reloading and fighting against this game, I'm just done. I love the Shadowrun setting, and there's a lot of good ideas and story in this game series, but it's shoddy work. In addition to the bugs, the usability and design of this game is just bad. Honestly, Returns was at best an alpha, and Dragonfall should barely qualify as a beta release. I feel cheated, and I didn't even spend any money on it.

Interesting early propaganda
Linear, isometric, turn-based combat RPG. Should be as annoying as hell but it's actually a lot of fun. This and the other two in the series were free giveaways and well worth the price. Given the engine limitations, however, they are probably not worth more than a few pounds. This, the second, would be the best of the three were it not for its anti-human racist message. As such, it's an early woke totalitarian propaganda piece which will offend anyone who likes liberal democracy. Then again, anyone who doesn't want to destroy Western society and civilisation is probably mature enough to separate truth from fiction so doesn't have to 'cance' anything they disagree with. The first ('Returns') is more flexible in team-building while the third ('Hong Kong') is bigger. I played this immediately after the first, although there is no need to, and then went straight onto the third, because they were so much fun, in their limited way. That said, don't expect anything epic and immersive.

Not what I expected.
If you're used to playing higher end games you might be disappointed with this one which feels like a complicated arcade game. That said, if you like arcade games you might enjoy this tactical themed game. I wish I had known that I wasn't going to be in control of my character at all times or I wouldn't have purchased it. During combat you have to move your fellow NPC's around like chess pieces which I found irritating. The game installed fine and played without glitches (patch installed), and the graphics are decent, although sort of like a doll house in appearance and the characters are cartoon-ish so if you expect a more realistic game play, well it's a stretch.

The Best RPG since Planescape Torment
The best RPG I have played since the Planescape Torment. If you like PT, you will like Dragonfall:)
