CONS: + Mid 1990s graphics, given you take issue. + Sense of humor will p___ off sjws.* *Which is a good thing to me.

Lo Wang makes prank calls, funny remarks when dismembering others with his sword, can jump really high and move really fast. He also happens to be Chinese and speaks English with an accent. Some reviewers think that this portrayal is racist and therefore the game is not merely bad, but morally repugnant. If you agree with them, don't play. No one's forcing you. Everyone else can download and enjoy some of the most fun I've had in a game for ages, and 2019 is the first time I've played this game so it's not just nostalgia. I played this free GOG version of the game with ProASM's source port instead of the bundled dosbox, and with his high res texture pack. This makes it look like the redux version. I don't think I could stand the extra pixelated dos version, and I didn't really want to buy the redux version. I'm not sure if the original has cut scenes. It certainly didn't when I played with the ProASM source port. There is a story linking the levels but one level jumps to another in a jarring way. For example, one level you're in a floating sky fortress, and the next you're in an airport where a plane has crashed into the building but there's no cutscene or explanation to transition between the two. The gameplay is great so I didn't mind that much but it would have been nice to have some sort of story to fill in the gaps.

The game is what you know is going to be for the Build Engine, you'll play Lo Wang, a bodyguard who work for Zilla Enterprises, but Master Zilla is going to conquer Japan with "evil" creatures, Lo Wang quit his job when he discovers Master Zilla's plan. The gameplay is the same as both Duke Nukem 3D and Blood, and other classic FPS games of this time period. It was the first time that a FPS game has sticky bombs, which was popularize by Halo. This game saw two expansion pack, Wanton Destruction and Twin Dragon. The game even got a remastered version, and a reboot, which got a sequel in 2013 and 2016 respectively. If you want to get a classic FPS game, but don't have money for one? Don't worry the game is free on both Steam, and right here on GOG.

The middle finger of the Build engine shooter trifecta holds up, even in this free, non-redux version that is more than worth your time, if sprite genocide is, or was, your kind of thing. Expect enemies that will test your skill, weapons that in experienced hands deal death and destruction like one would hugs on a sunny day and a long, challenging campaign that consistently borders on frustrating and intoxicating. There's plenty of variety on offer, with gore and profanity cranked up to 11 in racist, stereotypical pastiche of Hong Kong carnage and cartoon splatter that makes expert use of the famously interactive engine, culminating in several, intricate maps that rank amongst the best (and most destructive) of that era. Dual wield UZIs, shred enemies with one of the most badass shotguns in FPS history and unleash a 'nucular' strike before finishing the leftover ninjas with a karate chop to the groin. GOOD OLD SCHOOL FUN!

What can i say about shadow warrior, part of the big 3 Build Engine games along with "Duke Nukem 3D" and "Blood". the funny thing is shadow warrior is my second favorite Build game after Blood. it's pure blast from the past with lots of gore and lowbrow humor, essentially the asian version of Duke Nukem. like duke, this game is a parody of a movie genre in this case kung fu movies and asian culture and lo wang is the embodiment of asian stereotypes like the wise master/student character or bruce lee type only it's for laughs and not taken seriously. it's great fun except playing it in DOSBox SUCKSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! don't mind the primitvie control scheme or the low resolution or limited mouse contol, fit perfectly with it's old school gameplay style, my problem is, it crashed on me several times, when it gets busy with too much action/explosions it crashes. i tried to change memory in DOSBox cfg it didn't make any real differences, it crashed like 4-5 times afterwards, thankfully I saved every few minutes especially on the harder levels, like the volcano levels and those damn bees, I hate those bees, they are the worst enemies in this game. after a while it got annoying so i took an alternative to this, the other ways to play it using a source port or just get the redux version, better frame rate and stability and very little to no crashes at all.
