Set in Japan around the early Edo period, Aiko's Choice is a stealth strategy game that takes place within the story of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. The expansion focuses on one of the main game's protagonists: the kunoichi adept Aiko. She is a master of camouflage and distracts enemies disguised as a Geisha.
Although Aiko was certain that she left her old life behind her, Aiko's former sensei, the cunning spymaster Lady Chiyo, reappears from the shadows to challenge her. Together with her deadly companions she sets out to hunt down the ghosts of her past...
Play a team of five unique assassins
In the style of the main game, you take control of five skillful assassins, including Aiko, to sneak in the shadows between dozens of enemies. Aiko's companions are just as deadly as her:
Hayato is an agile ninja, who clears the way silently with his sword and shuriken. The mighty samurai Mugen prefers a more powerful approach and can defeat multiple foes at once. Yuki is a young thief, who places traps and decoys enemies towards their deadly fate. The wise marksman Takuma, however, relies on his sniper rifle and distracts enemies with his loyal pet companion Kuma.
Define your playstyle
Choose your approach when infiltrating enemy bases in hidden forest camps or lively Edo period towns. Set traps, poison and distract your opponents – or avoid enemy contact completely. Carefully plan your every move, utilize your characters' unique skills and execute your own ingenious tactics to outwit your enemies on the challenging missions that lie ahead!

Disclaimer: You don't require a copy of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun to play Aiko's Choice. Even though you can enjoy this standalone expansion on its own, we recommend playing at least the first few missions of the main game to get a feeling of the game's mechanics as well as the characters and story!
We are very happy to finally return to Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun after all these years, and we hope that we were able to convert that joy into this standalone expansion. Join us on another visit… to Japan, early Edo period.
Gameplay-wise this is exactly the same as the 'base' game, which shouldn't surprise anyone. If you liked the base game, you will like this.
My main gripe is its very short length: there are six missions total, but of those six, there are only three that I would say actually count as missions; two others are so short they barely qualify (~5 minutes without speedrunning) and the last one is basically a cutscene.
However, the big missions we do get are very solid ones, with plenty of options available, and plenty of opportunities for all five characters to shine.
Due to the length, I would urge you to buy it on sale. In all other respects it is more quality Shadow Tactics content.
I loved Blade of the Shogun and Desperados III and its extensions - so this addon so far delivered exactly what i expected (Played the first map - tried to be clever and get a few achievments i expected to be there - and got tricked, so i came out with none instead of the one achievement everybody should normally walk out of this with ;-)
Trying to collect the achievements is actually something quite joyful in these games, where you have to play a totally different style to get them, instead of the standard "just run over the map and collect things/fights". And the first time you play a level, you dont know what the achievements are, they will just be reveiled after the first time you play it. And i like it. The first time you concentrate on the story and finding your way around the map. And if you want to replay, you know the possible achievements and can try to get some, which will (as said before) lead to a totally different playing style.
@AGlezB: The camera is not locked to 4 angles, you can hold down ALT and move the mouse to get any angle you want.
I am a latecomer to this series. The 1st game was thoroughly satisfying and Aiko's Choice fills in a blank nicely. I have just purchased Desperados 3. I hope this company continues the story of our ninjas in the future.
The strength of this game lies in my opinion with the gameplay and the really fun game design overall and mission design in particular; the story was alright and somewhat entertaining, but didn't do much for me.
