Better than the original Commandos

I haven't played a game that "gets it right" as much as this one in decades, honestly. It is incredibly rare that a style of gameplay gets revived in this fashion and manages to pull everything off *this* well. It is apparent to me that the people that made Shadow Tactics simply "gets it" when it comes to this type of game, and it is incredibly reminiscent of the core gameplay of the old Commandos games, but updated and transposed into a different setting without breaking anything that was great with those old games. Really, this feels like a labor of love and is an absolute joy to play.

Steath tactics at its finest

This is an excellent addition to a gamegenre i thought died with Commandos 2. As everyone else, i played the demo, got hooked, and bought the real deal. If you fondly remember the old Commandos games, you owe it to yourself to play this game. Try the demo, and I guarantee you will buy the full game. Features: - 5 different heroes with vastly different skills and approach to gameplay - Fluid animations - Great feedback from the game. When you fail, you know exactly why. - Enemy AI is mostly on point. Different enemies act differently - Forgiving for some errors. If the alarm is raised, guards will look for you, but the mission isnt an instant failure. However, the guards will not just leave. They will stay around, making it harder for you to complete the mission. - An optional save-reminder. A clock that shows how long it is since last save. Very useful for forgetful types like myself. Can be turned off - You can queue actions, 1 pr character, and execute them all at the same time by pressing enter. - Easy to use ui, with hotkeys that makes sense. - Love the setting. You can even choose between english and japanese voiceover. - Looks great. Lots of detailed environments but not cluttered. - Runs great. No issues as of yet

Did you enjoy Commandos 2 or 3? Did you enjoy Robin hood prince Legend of Sherwood? Do you like pushing F5 and F8? This is the game for you! The fairly large maps give you several choices on how to achieve the objective but I enjoy methodically killing each and every enemy. Interestingly enough the knock out and tie up mechanic from Commandos and Robin Hood LOS are both missing ALSO stealing uniforms/ disguises is much less widespread apart from the Kunoichi character. I appreciate the graphic style and the narrative so far (after 17 hours) but feel the cutscenes should have been done in a more comic style. Give it a shot!

Great game with awesome level design

Really entertaining game with nice graphics and great level design. The difficulty is hard at times, but not too hard to get stuck forever. The five main characters you can play all have a great variation of skills. This, and the very nice and ever-changing settings of the missions; make the game very diverse. So far, I only found one part of critique: the repetitive talking of the characters become a bit annoying after a while.

Hooked on this amazing game

Never played anything like it, but after trying out the Demo and playing this for hours, I couldn't wait to buy the game and play the whole thing. It truly is an amazing game, simplistic yet with a lot of depth and really fun to think about all the different ways to succeed in a level. And also is hugely motivating to try every level again and get all the badges, some of them are really hard to get, especially the ones without killing or with time limit. So, it is absolutely worth the price and provided me already with countless hours of fun and will do so for quite some time in the future. And also, perfect 21:9 support, love it!
