Shadow Man Remastered

the voice acting is stellar, I refuse to believe anyone who would (for god knows what reason) say its not, and the story for the 47 minutes I played was pretty compelling. the controls however are a different story, I would be fine with them if i could just rebind them to another key, but I cant. instead what you get is the option to add action to ANOTHER KEY IN ADDITION TO THE ORIGINAL KEY! I wanted to bind crouch to left CTRL instead of the original bind which was left CRTL to zoom in. when I pressed CTRL, both actions happened which became disorienting immediately, forcing me to back to the original control scheme I didn't like and wanted to change. Shadow Man is a cool character, well written, but he is one of the worst controlling characters I've ever controlled. he is unbearably slow and has the outright worst jumps I've ever controlled. I swear he always jumps an entire second after I wanted him to, and he is in the air he goes so fast that its practically over as soon as he started. The camera is a borderline crime. I always hated games that let you change the camera movement speed, but instead of the best option which is full control (allowing you to choose between 55 to 56), you instead only get to choose between 50, 55 and 60. this game also has the camera always no matter what i chose always be either too fast and loose to ever actually play with, or be too rigid and slow to move that its also impossible to actually use, or in the middle which the best option I could find at 62, where the camera was somehow both at the same time.

I can't do it! the level design is split-hair centric, with other games in the same vein of semi-open worlds like Soul Reaver or Zelda you progress in a linear direction and have to explore to proceed, with Shadow Man, you are basically a mouse in a maze, bumping your nose along every identical wall, backtracking to find a key to progress all the while there's very little variation in a set envioment. If you are in it for the story, prepare for a exposition dump spoken of a ambigious prophicy with a book given that gives a full 20 mins worth to read up on. It's honestly no wonder why this game didn't catch on, the shooting is awkward, movement and jumping is 'lanky' it just doesn't have the chops to implement it's vision. I stopped at the asylum after running around and tiresly jumping on the same platforms trying to find a way through, no more! Play Soul Reaver instead, a MUCH better game.

the only issue is still bad controling ! it need some refinments . it hangs sometimes ! the rest still amazing classic game and i need another one !

i have the steam version Shadow Man: Remastered its good but The developer censored it the Cathedral of pain in Jack's room censorship of the nude hanging body is covered up with sheets its page say Restored several cut and censored models from the original levels but they claimed is uncensored but it is not they wont release a patch restore uncensored models for the Cathedral of pain in Jack's room now the nude models are covered up with sheets not cool now you cant buy the original version because night dive censorship i wont be supporting censorship look now the used to be white paint now the Cathedral of pain in Jack's room now the nude models are covered up with sheets and the developer wont make a patch to restore the content with the uncensored nude ones not with sheets and the developers gave in to censorship not with uncensored version and the the developers will be argumentative say its uncensored and its censored some what sorry rambling incoherently

controls and movement suck. The controls feel tanky an unresponsive. The games platforming isn't good and so is the combat. The game does contain a interesting world, lore and story and as great atmosphere but it just so happens that the gameplay kind of sucks. the first weapon you get sucks but you have to use it in order for your enimies to drop health pick ups. Kinda of a shame. It would be interesting if Nightdive were to do a full from the ground up remake of this because this game kind needs it since updating the visuals don't really help with the core problems clunky controls and bad platforming and combat. If your intersted in this game get it on a deep sale.
