Severed Steel

The good - Gorgeous cyberpunk-neon ambiance - Beautiful soundtrack! - Gunplay - Mobility: speed, stunts, bullet time - More modes to play once you finish the main campaign. Loving Firefight! The bad - Story (barely elaborated, Doom/Doom II have better storytelling). You're not trying Severed Steel for its story anyway. The ugly - Could use a bit more of optimization. Conclusion: A short yet solid game, quite a must play if you love shooters.

I saw the launch trailer, was impressed, bought it straight away and I haven't had this much fun in a long time ! This game is so fun and addicting !

The gameplay seems to take from fear, aka the ai calls you out, sliding and kicking, and slow-mo, the envioment being destroyed after a gunfight(more so here than fear due to the voxel destruction) and does these things in a fun manner. The main campain is roughy 2 hours but there are challege modes and the gameplay loop is fun enough for repeated walkthroughs.

A nice twitst on the genre. The movement is very agile, there's a strong emphasis on long range encounters and the arm cannon allows to destroy walls creating more opportunities. You can dive and slide just like in Maximum Action, but you can carry only one weapon at the time, so once you're out of ammo you need to steal the weapon from your enemies by kicking them in the face. Pewpew-ing in this game is fun BUT there's no gore and the basic level design will soon turn the gameplay loop into a slo-mo dive simulator, since standing still will get you killed in seconds.
