Serious Sam: The Second Encounter

This game has great new weapons but the obsticles have got to go. there are to many, so if you want to pass obsticles all day just buy mario brothers instead.

if you payed the 1st SS then you pretty much know what to expect, never ending cannon fodder (i mean enemies) coming at you from all sides, that's about it, the same thing every level, well... level bosses as well, i doubt any CHESS players will ever be playing this game, but i'am too dumb to play chess so i play this instead. only advise getting this on sale for maybe a buck or less.

In this episode Croteam pushed against the boundaries of its engine, and it shows. There are puzzles, and funky gravitiy, and air currents, and other stuff that's increase the "wow!" factor but detract from the inherent Samness one'd expect from the series. Too many bits of the game seem to be an engine showoff rather than something to make Serious Sam more serious. The boss is also pretty forgettable and disappointing (what leads to it... not as much): Even with sprinting, aiming and reloading, SS3 provides a purer experience than this title.

... And, disregarding the current temporary discount, the HD version is available on Steam for virtually the same price. Discount sales are great and stuff, but this one looks like kind of misleading, since it seems to be the time for the price to go down on its own, not by the means of weekly discount events. P.S. One great game, BTW! :)

Ok don't judge the vote of this review on the game itself, Second Encounter is GREAT. I'm judging this release. Now that GOG accepts new games there's no point to see instead of the much better HD remake, this one could easily be an added extra, but the best version around is hands down the remake, that builds up on the original gameplay and adds a new shiny layer of polish and care all over it
