The cult game that marked MercurySteam's origins returns; a sci-fi adventure with memorable characters, powerful ships and humor! Enjoy intense Multiplayer battles and races with ships you build.
Scrapland is a third-person action-adventure set in a distant future on Earth. In that future, only robots remain on the planet, and they consider humans to be the monsters that nightmares are made of. You will play D-Tritus, a new arrival who will investigate the brutal murders committed by a viscous being, a disgusting human on the loose in the city of robots.
Dive into this fun journey and discover the origins of MercurySteam, the studio behind Metroid Dread and Metroid: Samus Returns, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Spacelords.
Hack the system! Control 15 different characters, each with quirky personalities and abilities that will put your skill and sense of humor to the test.
Find the human murderer who has infiltrated the world of the robots and end his criminal career, if you can complete the game's 140+ missions.
Patrol the city with your favorite combat ship: Speed, fire power, countermeasures, maneuverability, resistance... You can have it all, if you put in the effort.
S A V A G E Multiplayer mode: An intense combination of races and battles still unmatched in the genre. Create your games or join others, on a local network or online.
Remastered content. This version has been improved with high-resolution modes, dedicated servers and revised network code, full gamepad support, in-game improvements and achievements.
Really incredible attention to details, I loved this since I played it back in childhood, amazing feat of technology and really exciting gameplay + story. Definitely a hidden gem
I remember playing this game back in the day but never got too far in it. The world and the graphic style left an impression however that made me want to try the game all these years later.
The disappointment was grave however as I came to the conclusion that this game is just.. dead boring!
The world indeed is colorful and vibrant and the scrap city looks stunning for it's age but the world still feels hollow and repetive. You can walk around the stations, clubs and places, talk and ask around but most of the handful of robots just repeat the same lines. Why have open world when it's so empty and lacks any exploration? Story characters in the game have funny voice acting but they are wooden and unlikeable.
Biggest sin of the game however is the even more boring gameplay: go here, go there, fetch this, fetch that.. The biggest trick of the game is to morph into various robots of the scrapland with various skills and abilities but the gameplay falls flat. In between walking missions you get into very arcade racing and shootout missions but they don't lift the overall experience.
Nothing in the gameplay, world, characters and sound leaves any impression to you. Even the simplistic calm abstract music makes your fall asleep.
Disapointing and wasted potential.
