Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry.
It is designed around the idea of "being thrown into the world". Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. The unsettling environment is a character itself.
Every location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world. Throughout the game you will open up new areas, acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to you.
GAMEPLAY FEATURES
COHESIVE "LIVED-IN" WORLD Scorn takes place in an open-ended world with different interconnected regions. Each region is a maze-like structure with various rooms and paths to discover. All the storytelling happens in-game, with no cut-scenes to distract you from the grisly reality of the living, breathing world you’re in. But keep your eyes open - the game won’t show you any sympathy if you miss something important on your uneasy travels.
FULL BODY AWARENESS
Players will experience better immersion being aware of the character’s body and movement. Interaction with the world is realistic - objects are picked up with your hands (instead of just floating in midair), machines and instruments are operated by grabbing the controls, etc.
INVENTORY AND AMMO MANAGEMENT
Your loadout is defined and limited. This plays a big role in keeping the player in an even greater state of awareness throughout the whole game. Players will have to think about when to fight and when to take cover and how their actions affect the world around them. Different play styles will be needed to advance.

This may not be the greatest game gameplay-wise, but its great visuals, audio-design and some of the exploration will keep you pushing forward. The story is only told by the world itself and no voice-overs or written text and explaination is given. Some puzzles are a bit frustrating and at no time you get taken by the hand or even hinted in the right direction.
Highly recommended for fans of H.R. Giger.
Really loved the vibes, this game is a piece of art. But the combat just sucks, hated every single enemies. Maybe it would've been better as a walking simulator with some gory moments
Firstly, there is a wide spread sound issue and a lot people experience it (I was only hearing partial sounds). In an exaustive try-and-error, I did manage to make it work: configuring my output to use NONE Audio Enhancement, change the overall quality to CD, restart the computer and restart a fresh save game.
The game itself is a work of art derived from the work of HR Giger. You navigate all his works, with their chromed hypersexualized mechanical-biological phalluses, sex, and violence. The art aspect of this product is suberb, specially when the visuals and sound work together to bring the cosmic dread to be alive and struggling in this place - a long forgotten ruin of a masochist, pain inducing, and fearful living space of machines and 'pieces of flesh'.
Like Giger works, all the imagery and symbolism reflects the complications that we are presented with the mechanicisms of being alive: to think, to feel, to breed, to survive. And, in the end, everything will lead to sex, gore, and violation of the body. As life itself. The narrative is abstractly presented, the traversal is unnerving, the sounds are horryfing. Everything a labor of love to bring Giger's art subject alive.
Considering the interactive part, I do not personally think bad of "walking simulators" or purely narrative-exploration games, great part of the game is about this added the solving puzzles. The only frustrating part its when you get lost because the gorgeous map is a little confusing when indicating its paths and interactive parts (perhaps by purpose).
For me, the worst part is when Scorn tried to be more "gamey" with its FPS-ish experience. Its frustrating, unresponsive, and a little bit unfair sometimes. I really thing that the game would be better without its guns, combat and "bosses". So keep that in mind if you gonna play it (preferebly with a mouse and keyboard instead of a controller)
It is a NICHE title about dreadful cosmic body horror - just keep it in mind if you buy it.
The game just looks incredible, its textures are awesome and the design of level is fair enough. But the gameplay just being puzzles leave a lot to desire, besides the game on high profile performs badly. With that art I would love to see other type of game
