Sanitarium

Sanitarium is a throwback to an age when they had perfected the 2D adventure. A good story, interesting puzzles with semi-logical solutions and decent voice acting. The whole style of the game (as should be clear from the box cover and the title) is strange and slightly disturbing. The graphics are of course not very great, in particular the animation and scanlines in the movies aren't much to behold. But I'm assuming that anybody on GOG already knows that you shouldn't judge a game by graphics alone. If you like adventure games you really can't go wrong with this one. It might be worth mentioning that this is not an insanely long game due to the puzzles being quite logical and intuitive. Also, I played this game from start to finish on Windows 7 64-bit without a single crash.

One of the best adventure games ever made! Totally worth to play. Excellent story, clever puzzles and nice graphics. It's still today a great game and one of its kind. Have to say, I wish there was more games like sanitarium.

Point and click adventure. Nostalgic piece that I remeber A great mystery story with excellent riddles. It manages to go beyond the 4 dimension with the mystery of the character, making himself question what reality is ...

The Story is good and really well told, the worlds are trippy and beautyful, the characters and dialogue are great, the dark humor is delicious and the horror elements are very well placed. I can only recommend this game. The only little problems are the movement controls (it takes a bit of practice and a bit of luck) and the puzzles in which you have to do things in a specific order (but they are comparably fair too, and that's what walktroughs are for). Some clues and parts of puzzles are also easily overlooked. All things considered I give it 95 of 100 points.

Ah, such a wonderful memory this is. This game is psychological horror and point and click adventure at its best; creepy, twisty, and quite happy to make you squirm. The game is difficult without being overly frustrating, and the writing and decidedly dark humor are wonderfully entertaining. Play this game!
